Recreation of article as stub

Sexual penetration previously redirected to sexual intercourse. This is inappropriate: women in same-sex relationships would probably not consider penile penetration to be the primary meaning of "sexual penetration". Other forms of sexual penetration are equally notable, and "count" as much as those that do not involve a penis. Therefore, a simple stub article that discusses the various forms of sexual penetration is appropriate. Otherwise, a redirect to human sexual behavior is in order. 66.30.19.42 (talk) 20:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Not inappropriate at all, seeing as sexual intercourse can mean oral penetration, digital penetration or even penetration by a dildo/strap-on. But I see that BD2412 has recreated this article, and has at least made it seem somewhat notable enough to stand on its own (seeing as the term sexual intercourse can also refer to non-penetrative sex, even though usually meaning "penetration"). That image's pornographic

It's an actual PHOTOGRAPH of a penis entering a vagina...that's porn. I'm removing it. 66.30.19.420 (talk) 20:12, 8 March 2008‎ (UTC)

Of course not, the article is about penetration, there's got to be a photo of a penis penetrating a vagina, a mouth, an asshole or something, for educational purposes of course ! 189.106.5.241 (talk) 06:43, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I checked in the edit history to see when those two signature-less comments in this section were made, and I signed those IP user names above. Flyer22 (talk) 09:33, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Simple English Wiki

This article reads like a simple English page. I suggest an overhaul of the writing style. I've started, but I need help. Caitlin.swartz (talk) 03:47, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

I've been planning to significantly expand this article. There is certainly a lot that can be stated with regard to the cultural significance of sexual penetration, ranging from what ancient societies, such as the ancient Greeks or Romans, thought...including their beliefs that a man being sexually penetrated was like taking a "woman's role" during sexual activity (see Sexuality in ancient Rome), to modern thoughts about masculinity and male sexual penetration or the bond many believe sexual penetration imparts on couples.
By the way: With regard to you using Template:Which on this article or any other article, you need to be careful with that. See what it says. "Many jurisdictions," for example, cannot be named without the paragraph becoming a laundry list. Furthermore, using "nowiki" keeps the cn tags from showing up correctly. I also moved your section down, per Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Layout. Flyer22 (talk) 09:33, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Animal, vegetable, mineral?

The lede states, "Sexual penetration is a sexual activity that involves the entry into a person's (or animal's) bodily orifice", but aren't we forgetting all those lovers of inanimate-object-intercourse out there. What about mechanophiles? or parkbenchophiles? And what about plain old-fashioned artificial vaginas and sex dolls? It's not so odd, apparently we'll all be making sweet love with robots in the very near future! -- Hillbillyholiday talk 00:25, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

It depends on what WP:Reliable sources define as sexual penetration, and there's also WP:Undue weight to consider. Flyer22 (talk) 00:32, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps a brief mention of inanimate objects somewhere with a link to Object sexuality? -- Hillbillyholiday talk 00:43, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I'm fine with that. Though until a WP:Reliable source is found defining it as a form of sexual penetration, which can then better allow it to be placed in the Definitions section, it is probably best left as a link in the See also section. It definitely shouldn't go in the lead, per WP:LEAD. Flyer22 (talk) 00:50, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Also, considering that the article already mentions sexual penetration by inanimate objects, it's clearly just a matter of going that extra step and defining sexual penetration as also including a person penetrating an inanimate object in a sexual manner. Flyer22 (talk) 01:11, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
