Meaning

This in response to Jean-Jacques Georges. I decided to rework the meaning so that it can clarify any questions as to why black women, minorities and race is centered in the discussion. Yes all races participate in the sex industry but history and research shows disproportionately it is black women and minorities. @DiaEdie: I get an error message "Sorry, we are unable to retrieve the document you requested" when trying to follow the reference you give, I can only find a summary of the article elsewhere. From the extract, it looks as if this article is US based not a worldwide view. This needs to be clarified in the article. Looking at articles on historic red-light districts in the US and their sources, the findings in the article you cite apply to more modern times only.
