Merge: Sentinel value[edit]

I'm proposing a merger with sentinel value here, because I think they're the same thing... Not entirely sure if there are distinctions between the two terms, though? ~ Booyabazooka

They're used to solve the same problem but they are definitely different things. I've put some more information on the page and removed the merge tag.

Use or reference of the sentinel node[edit]

In the article we see the initialization of a sentinel node. But so far, this is pointless, unless we see an example or piece of code, where the sentinel node works as a sentinel. --Nomen4Omen (talk) 17:48, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tone and overall quality of this article[edit]

This article reads like it was written by somebody who is deeply offended by the very concept of sentinel nodes in liked lists, which is frankly a bit goofy. The only reference is to a magazine article from a programming magazine that has not been in publication for over a decade. I do not have time to do it myself, but this article really, really needs a rewrite badly. --Halcy (talk) 21:30, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
