History of what happened to the town[edit]

I am seeing some conflicting information about what happened to the existing town of Searsville when they were building the dam. I am unsure if any part of the town is underwater? Was unclear... If someone could elaborate this history it would be greatly appreciated! I think some of the confusion is the romanticizing of the "ghosts of Searsville" tale.
