Reboot?

- Why is this film described as a reboot in the article when it's clearly a sequel and continuation of the story established in the previous three films? That's exactly what a reboot isn't. 167.182.124.254 (talk) 15:33, 8 July 2010 (UTC)DetectiveFork

Notice the source next to that? (Variety) It states, "Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere have boarded the original "Scream" team in Dimension's reboot of the horror franchise." I'll look for more sources later. Mike Allen 18:21, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Locked

If someone writes spam on this article, delete it and block them. Surely people who don't want to create accounts are trustworthy enough to edit this. I understand the reasoning behind it. You think that if trolls can't edit this with their ip address, they won't bother creating accounts, but locking this causes an opposite problem, because users who don't have accounts aren't going to bother creating one to correct spelling.Green Kirby (talk) 06:54, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

It was locked because IPs were continuously adding unsourced material. It'll be unlocked at the end of this month. We'll see how it goes then. I try my best to revert and rescue the article, but when IPs out-number me, I sometimes fail and get frustrated that all my time is going into reverting. So locking an article gives things time to cool off. We hope. Keep in mind that IPs and non confirmed users can add an edit request and it will be looked into promptly. Thanks for you spelling corrections; I get "was" and "were" confused often. Sometimes when something sounds right to me, it's usually wrong -- and vice versa. Mike Allen 07:55, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Wrapped

On the 14 of August it was confirmed by David Arquette that Courtney Cox had wrapped on filming for Scream 4. Maybe this should be included in the Filming? Wait until a more mainstream source reports it. Adding fansites will just be reverted. WP:FANSITE Mike Allen 06:28, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Another thing. The teaser poster is a fan made fake. The only real poster that has come out was the one with just the ghostface mask on it. No other poster has been released. Check the main website, fan sites and forums. That poster is fan made. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.108.140.248 (talk) 17:38, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Clean up tag placed on article

User:Miss HollyJ has placed a clean up tag on the top of the page. I reverted the assertion and suggested they take it to the talk page. They reverted me back and placed a warning on my talk page. Please let's discuss what needs clean up and what is a "mess". It's not recommended you place a clean up tag on an article (that has active editors) and not explain what exactly needs "cleaned". Thank you. Mike Allen 03:55, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

There are several statements and other facts that really are not needed on the article. As well as the summary for the "Casting" section, which is way too long. As for the cast section itself, most of the brief summaries are not needed, since the actor's role hasn't even been revealed yet. So until the full fact about the particular actor and their role is revealed, nothing should be listed, but the actors themselves. Also, there seems to be a lack of sources throughout the article. As well as secondary and reliable sources, which I might tag again if the problem isn't resolved soon. --HollyJ .Talk —Preceding undated comment added 04:12, 11 September 2010 (UTC).
I agree with the Jamie Kennedy paragraphs. It's kind of contradictory and doesn't make sense. I trimmed that. As for the cast section, some of the sources announced the name of the character and then the casting slides describe that character's role. We were putting two and two together and that borders WP:SYNTHESIS, so it's been removed. Though for the actors like Erik Knudsen, Adam Brody, etc, their roles have not been announced, but there is a description of their characters listed. I disagree with lack of sources, the whole article is sourced. Can you be specific on what's not sourced? See here of the changes I made and let me know if that satisfies your concerns. Thanks. Mike Allen 05:16, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
The changes you've made pretty much fix the whole article for now, except with the secondary sourcing. A trim was really the only thing needed here, but I just have an issue with the lack of sources. For example, the actors and who is portraying who all only have one source, but who knows if their reliable or not? I mean the internet is full of websites that consist of nothing but rumors at times. So you can't really trust any site that you first lay your eyes on. That's where the secondary sourcing comes in Wikipedia:RS. All I ask is for more than one source here. I mean Scream 4 is going to get pretty popular with the media and the new generation horror fans in the upcoming months as the release date soon approaches. And when it does become as popular, the article will really need more than just one source for such important information such as the cast and other useful updates. --HollyJ .Talk06:12, 11 September 2010 (UTC).

I agree 5teevee5 (talk) 07:32, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand when you say this article only "has one source". It has 33 sources, all from reliable sources. I'm very much aware of WP:RS. This article contains references from, Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, MTV News, Variety etc. Where do you think the publications such as EW and THR get their information? Directly from the production company. I've removed the clean up tag. Mike Allen 07:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

{{tlf|editsemiprotected} Pere Hilton reports that Mary McConnell has been cast as Lauren Graham's replacement. http://perezhilton.com/2010-07-02-more-scream-4-cast-changes-gilmore-girl-drops 86.45.238.83 (talk) 23:03, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Not done and here's why: Actually the original source is The Wrap. The fan-site scream-trilogy.net re-posted it, and then Perez re-posted the scream-trilogy.net post, which stated "If we were betting, we’d say that McDonnell is Graham’s replacement". The original reliable source (The Wrap) does not state that at all. It's currently unknown, to the public. See WP:RS for more reasons why we don't include fan-sites and gossip blogs such as Perez Hilton into external links or inline citations. However if you do spot it being reported in a reliable source, please post back. Thanks. :-) Mike Allen 01:07, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

The introduction says that filming "commenced" on September 22, 2010, but it should say that it has been "completed." What I'm getting at is that someone thinks commence means "to end" when it means "to begin." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.37.30.138 (talk) 23:15, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

I am not sure how to change a redirect, but Scream 4 (Film) (Notice the capital F) redirects to Scream (film series). The lower case one redirects to this page. Angryapathy (talk) 19:13, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

{{edit semi-protected}} Underneath the RELEASE section, I think the part that reads "A test screening took place in Pittsburgh on January 6, 2011," should follow up with, "In addition, a SCREAM-A-THON event is scheduled to take place in Suffolk, VA the day before its release, which will screen the original trilogy before Scream 4 premieres at midnight." Scream 4 facts from Entertainment Weekly

Summary of stuff about Scream 4 I thought you may find useful for the article. I don't want to do it myself because I'll end up obsessing over it like I'm doing the main series article. http://scream-trilogy.net/2011/04/ew-scream-4-article-summary-new-still/ Darkwarriorblake (talk) 20:12, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

What issue and date is this of Entertainment Weekly. Do you have the issue? —Mike Allen 21:31, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
It came out today, issue 1150, April. I don't have it yet, working on getting hold of it. There's a preview of it here: http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/04/07/scream-4-this-weeks-cover/ and the summary came from here, same place I got that link: http://scream-trilogy.net/2011/04/ew-scream-4-article-summary-new-still/
And while I have you, Cathy Konrad is now listed as an executive producer on the film, though I don't know how to source it. Her name is on the official posters with Weinstein and Ehren Kruger. You might have to just wait for the film and source that Darkwarriorblake (talk) 00:01, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
If you do get it, can you scan it and email it to me? I don't think we list executive producers (unless they are notable), just the producers. —Mike Allen 00:16, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm trying to get someone who has it to scan it so if I can get it I will send it your way. And |I thought it was worth mentioning in relation to her case in the ...development section? Pretty big deal they had to give her a credit. Plus at the moment in the infobox Cathy Feingold, Harvey and Bob Weinstein are listed and they're only executive producers. Well Feingold is a co-producer, not sure what that is.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 00:26, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
I would say Harvey and Bob are notable. ;) Plus, it seems from interviews Bob had a lot of decision making for the film (most EP don't). The infobox really shouldn't list every single credit. It can be written in prose. —Mike Allen 00:34, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
I meant its from the poster. I mean if this is one of the official posters, its hard to tell because its kinda crappy. Its not easy to read but she is listed as co-producer. The Weinsteins, Kruger, and Conrad are listed as executive. Williamson is now listed as a producer alongside Craven and Labunka. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9Sqb6Vhazxg/TUesTIIDvHI/AAAAAAAATlY/Jv6fD8h-xHw/s1600/Scream+4+poster.jpg Darkwarriorblake (talk) 00:55, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Rewrite Plot Please

This article is in desperate need of a clean up, the way the plot is currently written is barely legible and is not up to wikipedia standards. Please rewrite if you are an editor familiar with the plot of Scream 4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.11.200.41 (talk) 15:27, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

She did get a fatal shot! When Sidney and Gale are down looking at Dewey, Jill gets up behind them and Sidney turns and shoots her, dead. —Mike Allen 21:01, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
I know dude, was being sarcastic with him for funsies. It's amazing how many people seem to not know about that shot, must've reverted it a dozen times in the Scream characters page today. Please change the plot, spoilers are not cool... I checked the site to see if it has good comments from critics and now I know the whole story. I'm pissed and I don't want others to fund out who the killer is like I did.

76.110.76.221 (talk) 17:23, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

If you didn't want spoilers, why did you read the plot instead of skipping down to reception? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.11.200.41 (talk) 18:11, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia doesn't do censorship for the sake of spoilers, it'd be pretty silly to come to the Scream 4 article after its release and sillier to read the plot but if it makes you feel better people were posting spoilers BEFORE its release and ruined it for me as well. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 19:12, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

So the hell what. I agree, the plot listed here is written by someone with no understanding what a synopsis is. I saw the movie last night, before I came to the wiki page, but I thought the Plot written about here is a word for word telling of what is in the movie which is completely unnecessary and shows the lack of writing skill the author has. You should not be allowed to write Wiki articles for movies or anything else for that matter. Sometimes people come to this site to read about a movie they are interested in, but there is no need for spoilers. It is just lazy writing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jakeinfo19 (talkcontribs) 14:02, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Box Office

I noticed that alot of these articles tend to disintegrate into edit wars because fans of these movies, or haters, get angry at how box office results are intrepreted. The best wiki articles on this tend to play a straight line, using quotes whenever possible, and avoiding "personal" feelings on the matter. Industry analysts across the board are calling this opening "disappointing" in the press so I do not think it is our job to deprive the reader of this important info simply because the makers of this film and the fans might get upset. It's not our job to nuance, or re-interpret, or water down info that is necessary to the article. My hope is conflict can be avoided by working out consensus on here that (a) avoids populist/anti-intellectual fears and (b)is rational. Please discuss.Games Junn (talk) 03:38, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Contributions aren't deleted here and I never said I owned the page. I have, however, put in a lot of time and effort into this article. But that's beside the point, right? I have the right like anyone else to revert an edit. I plainly added my reason in the edit summary. Anyways, I reverted it because it was already stated in the paragraph and the quotes you inserted shouldn't be in the very first sentence. The film opening in ## theaters is what happened first, then the midnight gross, daily gross, weekend gross, etc. Sticking "opened to a disappointing $19.3 million according to "industry experts" in the first sentence just seem arbitrary to me. The box office analysts should be further down the section. That is all. And, please, don't assume that I'm trying to block the facts from being inserted into the article because I am a "fan". That's ridiculous. Thank you. —Mike Allen 04:01, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
