Year of birth

Can we have some referenced information on this please? The published information is that she was reported as being 34 in an interview published in December 2007 - here - which makes it highly likely that she was born in 1973. But I'm aware that people who (claim to) have known her state that she was born earlier. Editors need to be aware of WP:RS - that is, we need to have reliable published sources, particularly when publishing information on living people. I will leave the birth year blank, until or unless we have unambiguous published information. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:55, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Recent edits - which I've now reverted - have deleted the claimed birth year of 1967 while retaining the cited reference for that year - which is nonsensical. Either the source gives a date of 1967, in which case both should be retained, or it doesn't, in which case both should be deleted. The problem is that the ref is set out in a form which doesn't make it easily verifiable - no URL, for instance - but I'm prepared to assume good faith on the part of the editor who added it. It would help if the editors who are variously adding and deleting this information would discuss the issue here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:49, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
OK. WP:BLP states: "Do not use public records that include personal details—such as date of birth.... unless a reliable secondary source has published the material." So, I have now removed both the suggested birth year and the claimed source. This should only be reinstated if supported by a source that is both secondary and independent. Note I've reverted citing WP:BLPSPS. That should be Wikipedia:Blp#Misuse_of_primary_sources. --NeilN talk to me 18:03, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
