Citation requested for Vista and XP drop of support:[edit]

If anybody wants to fill the citation needed for the drop of Vista and XP support after the 2.18 release, you should be able to use https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/blob/9c8cb59253f8de1fd3fc74ed5d10b4bee9e41996/ChangeLog.txt#L9-L10 as a reference

As the author of the software, I don't think I can edit the page to add that reference, as it might be construed as a conflict of interest if not validated by a third party.

The gist of this data is correct (Rufus can be used to download Windows 10 ISOs), but unfortunately there are some very inaccurate statements:

The ISO DVD image download is not limited to Windows 10, Windows 8.1 images are also available: https://github.com/pbatard/Fido/blob/ee0393cb74fad1800d06b145eb0331072998084f/Fido.ps1#L207-L215
Rufus does not need "to be run under Windows 8.1 at least", as the script (Fido) that is being used by Rufus to implement that feature explicitly mentions Windows 7 and we did test that Rufus could indeed download ISOs when running on Windows 7. Again, because I am the developer of the software, I am not allowed to alter the page to correct these inaccurate statements, so I would appreciate if somebody else would.

This is wrong. Like all the other platforms, the Windows 7 version of Rufus is designed to work in a connected environment, as it may need to download some additional files, check for updates or let the user download retail Windows ISOs. The only limitation of Windows 7 is that, if the user did not apply all Windows updates, the default SSL library might be unable to access the GitHub hosted content, as GitHub prevents HTTPS connections that use insecure protocols. But a fully updated version of Windows 7 should not have this problem, and there is certainly nothing in the application that even remotely warrants disconnecting from the Internet when using Rufus on Windows 7. Again, I would appreciate if any edit that mentions some kind of restriction of the application was backed up by providing a verifiable source for that data.
