delete course catalog content[edit]

The following is too detailed, and reads like a course catalog. I propose deleting it: "An extensive visual art program is offered, with a four-year college prep track including AP Art Studio, and numerous electives that include four levels of ceramics, three of photography, graphic design and yearbook production. Co-curricular opportunities are also available in the visual arts. Students are eligible to participate if they're in grades 7-12, with a maximum of 6 seats available for new students. Students are selected through an application process with the implementation of a waitlist and a lottery if more than six requests are received." -- Melchior2006 (talk) 16:10, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I genuinely don't understand. This edit that you made to the article just minutes after making this comment here on the talk page claims to be deleting material about "county championships", not course catalog details, and then deletes extensive details about state, regional and national championships. Am I missing something? Was this a mistake or a deliberate "accident"? Alansohn (talk) 22:31, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The two edits are unrelated. This is a proposal for deletion. The other was a deletion. --Melchior2006 (talk) 07:55, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since no one has given a reason to maintain the course-catalog content listed above, I will go ahead and delete. -- Melchior2006 (talk) 09:37, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Future Ready – proposed delete[edit]

This section is not relevant for an encyclopedia. WP:Relevance of content gives this guideline: content must have "influenced subject's form, role, history, public perception, or other noteworthy traits. The effects of these factors on the subject should be plainly apparent." Future Ready is an internal initiative within the school system and doesn't have much significance (yet) for the school's form, role, history, or public perception. -- Melchior2006 (talk) 08:08, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

a typical laundry list: propose delete[edit]

The section titled "Athletics history" has the following laundry list. Do we really want this kind of writing in an encyclopedia?

The wrestling team won the North II Group IV sectional championship in 1983 and 1996, won the North II Group III title in 2004, won in North II Group III in 2011 and 2014, and won in North I Group IV in 2015, 2016 and 2018[30]

The baseball team has won the Morris County Tournament six times, tied for the second-most in tournament history, winning in 1996-1998, 2011, 2014 and 2015.[31]

The girls soccer team won the Group IV state championship in 1997, defeating Eastern Regional High School in the final game of the playoff tournament.[32]

The girls track team won the Group III indoor relay championship in 1999.[33]

The girls track team won the indoor Group III state title in 2000 and 2008.[34]

The girls cross country team won the Group IV state title in 2004 and 2005.[35]''

The ice hockey team won the Haas Cup in 2008 and the Halvorsen Cup in 2016 and 2017.[36]

Failure to seek consensus[edit]

There is an ongoing RfC at Talk:Pingry School regarding inclusion of state championships, where the consensus seems clear that they should be included. Rather than respect this consensus, in a recent edit to the article, Melchior2006 deliberately deleted sourced content about state and regional titles, even after the references that the user had demanded in a previous mass removal of content had been added and after material that could not be sourced was removed. As much as the lack of competence and refusal to discuss issues is a problem, this edit was clearly in bad faith. I will revert the removal and I encourage Melchior2006 to refrain from making further such edits before obtaining community consensus to support your mass deletion of content. Until other editors chime in on this, I am going to check out of these discussions. Let me know once Alansohn's wp:ownership of these articles has been rescinded. --Melchior2006 (talk) 07:07, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
