Ronson or Zippo[edit]

I haven't found very many references calling this the "Ronson system" (and Ronson tanks, seem to refer to all Shermans in general due to there thin armor, and German tanks ability to 'light them up' with one hit [1]). Instead I have found a few references calling these "Zippo tanks"

True it seems that the Ronson flamer thrower is what is being used, however that doesn't seem to be the common name for this sort of weapon. I suggest we move this article to Zippo tank. Comments, suggestions, alternatives.... -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:37, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The more I looked into this article, it seems that this title is a misnomer. On top of that, I'm not sure this piece is deserving of its own article. I have added this variation to M4_Sherman_variants underwhich it didn't exist yet. But also there is a lot more info at Flame tank already. It also says there that this version was designated M4A3R3, which if I thought this should stay an article, would likely be it's new title. Instead I now suggest that we redirect this article to Flame tank. I have always heard it as zippo tanks and ronson flamethrowers as the system. I understand what the first guy is saying about german tanks, but that sounds dubious(but thin armor is not what made them explode so much). Flame tanks were mostly used in the Pacific rather than on the western fronts for various reasons. But I think this should remain its own page. The ronson flamethrower is too impressive for it to be glommed on with the flame tanks page. Blamazon (talk) 07:18, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Expert Banner[edit]

Someone wrote this into the original page before I put up the expert banner:

"The so called "author" obviously didn't do his research. When he stated that the Ronson System was only used by the Marines, this is incorrect. The Ronson System may have been primarily used by the Marines but was also used by the Army in the ETO. For the Marines had absolutely nothing to do with Operation Overlord."

Merging Ronson and Lagonda ?[edit]
