Robert Metcalfe (scholar) → Robert Metcalfe (University of Cambridge) – or Robert Metcalfe (Cambridge) or Robert Metcalfe (professor of Hebrew). Oppose move to Robert Metcalfe (University of Cambridge), because Robert Metcalfe is not a University of Cambridge. Another form of disambiguation might be helpful, though. I think "Hebrew scholar" sounds like a scholar who is Hebrew not a scholar of Hebrew. Hebraist is his academic profession, though I think "priest" simpler. DrKiernan (talk) 19:19, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Support Robert Metcalfe (Hebraist). I've no objection to "Hebrew scholar" either if consensus leans that way, but "Hebraist" is more concise and more consistent with other articles — I see only Paulus Aemilius (Hebrew scholar), against six (Hebraist)s plus Category:Hebraists itself. 61.10.165.33 (talk) 08:05, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We have another professor, Robert Metcalfe (engineer). Move to either Robert Metcalfe (Cambridge professor) or Robert Metcalfe (priest). Either one is more notable and prestigious than a scholar. --George Ho (talk) 14:43, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- First, we don't usually disambiguate by academic rank or university. Second, he's not primarily notable for being a priest. Thirdly, Hebrew scholar or Hebraist is the correct term for his speciality, and is therefore equivalent to engineer, biologist, physicist or whatever. I think you may be misinterpreting the academic meaning of scholar - it's certainly not an inferior term to either professor or priest. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:13, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
