"Smiling Islands" release[edit]

I'm not sure if any of this should be in the article, but I thought it'd be good to preserve it somewhere with Robbie Patton information.

On a YouTube upload of "Smiling Islands", Gary Wisner made this comment in 2020:

"I was the Atlantic rep who finally convinced the label to put this out as a single. I had already gotten a bunch of stations playing it. First they had to get approval from Nicks, then she or her record co. (Modern) wouldn't allow her name to be put on the label. By the friggin' time we got the single out it had already peaked at my stations and was basically "dead in the water". I was convinced then and I'm still convinced this should have been a hit!!!!"

The album was released in July 1982. Stevie was not just singing backup - she sang lead on two verses. The single didn't hit Billboard's charts until March 1983. PatConolly (talk) 17:19, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
