Relationship to Anne of Green Gables[edit]

The article briefly mentions that the series is based on Montgomery`s Anne series, but I was wondering if some more explicit needs to be said about where the Anne series ends and Road to Avonlea begins. Are the characters from the TV series actually featured in the novels or vice versa? 76.64.157.32 (talk) 00:14, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's not based on the Anne series, though some characters such as Mrs Lynde and Marilla cross over from it. It's based on The Story Girl books by the same author at first. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.78.215.87 (talk) 15:03, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Road to Avonlea is a successor to Kevin Sullivan's television version of Anne, and a few Anne characters are imported into it from time. It is, however, based primarily on Montgomery's separate novels The Story Girl and The Golden Road as the previous poster said (they are the source of the King family and Sara Stanley, but are set in 'Carlisle' rather than Avonlea and differ from the television version in a number of other respects), and some early episodes take their plots from the two volumes of Chronicles of Avonlea. Conflict of interest and Sullivan Entertainment promotional material[edit]

I've tagged this article as WP:COI and started trimming some of the more overtly promotional material recently added. See this discussion at WP:COIN for more details. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 19:36, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the Christmas special section because it was copyvio of this. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 22:44, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Lloyd?[edit]

according to IMDb Christopher Lloyd never acted on this series, So the first line in Awards section is defiantly wrong, maybe the writer mistook him with another actor, anyone now who really was who gained 4 emmy awards instead of Chris Lloyd? N.samimi island (talk) 18:23, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb is not a reliable source. Christopher Lloyd guest starred as a failed actor who became a substitute teacher at the Avonlea school.71.246.221.39 (talk) 11:42, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for Polley's Departure[edit]

Sarah Polley's own page indicates she left following a dispute with Disney. This page has an unverified comment that it was for "academics" - can this be cleared up? -Etoile (talk) 23:45, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added synopsis to lede[edit]

I took the liberty of adding a one-sentence series description to the lede. Lists of producers and production companies and such are fine, but it's always nice having some idea why we're taking the time to read about something. – AndyFielding (talk) 03:00, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
