Querying notable alumni[edit]

Michael Dawson appears to have gone to Wensleydale School but there is no mention of him attending Richmond School Gornystege (talk) 18:22, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am fairly certain that the insert of Alfonso Ribeiro into the Alumni is false as this is a seriously niche name and it is quite clear that the American Fresh Prince of Bell Air Actor did not attend Richmond School so i have removed it. If anyone one knows differently i apologize--lucuzade (talk) 23:30, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question on creating separate article for Richmond (Grammar) School[edit]

Does anyone else think it seems rather absurd to tie the original Richmond Grammar School quite so closely with the present-day school? It was in a different building, under an entirely different educational system, and has absolutely nothing in common with the present-day school. Thus, to count Charles Grey and Lewis Carroll amongst the alumni of one and the same school seems grossly misleading, and a rather desperate attempt to contrive a heritage for what has, sadly and regrettably, become just another 'bog-standard comp'. I would propose creating a new and separate page for Richmond Grammar School. 156.109.18.2 (talk) 15:46, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I do have some sympathy with this view. If a school moves away from it's origins, either physically, in concept, or both, then it's original manifestation could deserve a separate article. Other more closely associated and very recent schools which have merged and changed names have their previous entities as articles on Wikipedia and the new merged entities as separate articles. This is easier as time moves forwards — a school article exists; a merger with another school (with article) happens, and a new school article emerges out of the 'remnants', with the previous articles remaining. I can't see, in principal why this shouldn't be logged in the same way for schools pre-Wikipedia - I'm sure there are some anyway.
If enough information can be found for the Richmond (Grammar) School for a reasonably substantial article, I'm sure this can be tried, as adding it to today's Richmond Comprehensive article would overweight it. Acabashi (talk) 02:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
