Correspondence with Richard Pacheco, May 30, 2006[edit]

On May 29, 2006, I decided User: Richard Pacheco wasn't going to answer the questions I put on his talk page, and also to verify that he was, in fact, Howie Gordon/"Richard Pacheco". So I found his email address and asked. Here is his response. While it's not really a verifiable source, it's probably useful enough to have on the article talk page.

Dear Mr. Mouse,

Well, imagine my surprise that I could make some
"convincing, though unsourced" comments about my own life!!
How do I prove to you that I'm me? Hmmm, never thought that I 'd
turn into a latter day Anastasia!

(You do have memories of the Russian Revolution, don't you? You know,
of course, that Anastasia claimed to be the only surviving child of the executed
royal family of Tsar Nicholas & Tsarina Alexanadra, but that Anastasia had
great difficulty convincing the rest of the world that this was so (even though
she would one day eventually be very convincingly portrayed by actress
Ingrid Bergman).

Well, are you who you claim to be? How do I know that you're
really Anon E. Mouse? (That sounds notoriously like the "NoMan"
cyclops character out of Homer's Odyssey.) I mean, you could be
anybody!!
I suppose I could ask Mickey or Minnie or Mighty, but you know how
difficult it is to get through all of their buffers...

And I haven't vanished, by the way, I'm right here. I found the
process of trying to meaningfully edit (and improve) the Wikipedia biography
of me, by the way, to be very frustrating and problematic.
I got confused and had to start over any number of times before I
ultimately said, "Fuck it," and largely abandoned the effort. What
actually came through was only a portion of what I'd attempted...

...but you said you had questions. Yes, what were your questions?

1. How is it that you started "In the early '70s'" in Candy Stripers,
which is dated 1978? Did the movie sit on some producer's shelf for
a few years, or does the IMDb have the release date wrong?

THE CANDY STRIPERS was filmed in the Fall of 1977. It was
my first professional X-Rated Film. In the "early '70's," I worked as an
actor in "straight" stuff. I did some plays, some workshops, went fishing
a lot for a commercial agent).

   2. If you essentially stopped acting in 1984, how did you get an
acting award for Sensual Escape in 1989? Was it one of the rare films
when you could us a condom?

I did a number of videos after 1984, but usually in non-
sex roles. Let's just say that by the end of 1984, I stopped
working as a "regular " in the sex industry which I had been
doing since appearing in The Candy Stripers.
I don't recall winning any awards for SENSUAL ESCAPE in
1989, but that really doesn't mean anything. By then, I wasn't
paying a whole lot of attention to such things.

3. Do you recall the Playgirl issue exact date(s)?
	The Donahue show(s) dates?

Under my real name (Howie Gordon), I was the November
centerfold in 1978. I was elected Man of The Year for 1979
and appeared on the cover of their 1980 Calendar and was
featured in several more of their issues.
The Donahue show had to be in late '78 or in 1979. I
could look it up exactly in my diary, but you're hardly paying
enough to make it worth the hassle. You know what I'm talkin'?

4. Any info on the NY Critics awards on the Web?

I don't know nothin' about "the Web," but I was in bed with Samantha Fox
shooting a love scene in San Francisco from the movie "IRRESISTIBLE" when
she was called off of the set to take a phone call from her boyfriend Bobby Astyr
who was calling from the Critics Award Show in New York (1981).
When she got back into bed, she told me that I had just won the BEST ACTOR
(NOTHING TO HIDE) and the BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (THE DANCERS)
for that year. Do you think that might have helped my erection just a little bit?
Good Guess. Both of those trophies are sitting right in front of me now on my desk.

Well, that's it, Anon. I've given you over an hour, easy. The gardening awaits!

You now know where to find me,

Photograph[edit]

I notice that some effort appears to be being made to use recent photographs of adult film stars of the 70's through 90's, when most of them have lost some or most of their attractiveness. Contrast this to the 1968 picture of Brigette Bardot in her Wiki Article. This strikes me as a subtle but definite violation of the Wikipedia policy against expressing bias.
