About this page[edit]

Source - Google Translation of the Polish Wikipedia version of this page.

Note this is a really bad example of missing references - there are a LOT on the Polish version of the page. At the moment the Polish version of the page is the reference. Sorry!

The Bibliography is a bit of a mess too.

Since this is based on a Google Translation of the Polish version of this page, the translated text may not be perfect (especially as I don't speak Polish). I've had a little help on some complicated old types of untranslatable words though. And I've tried to clarify some details - like how this was a response the to reverse action by the Russians after the November Uprising - and with the odd detail from either linked English Wikipedia pages or translated pages that linked from the Polish version of the page. That said, this looks like an important document - if increasingly horrible subject matter to read, so it's good to get it into English Wikipedia. Escottf (talk) 21:15, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

pinging possibly interested editor[edit]

@Piotrus: Don't know whether you are interested in this topic but the article is languishing at WP:PNT where the chances of it meeting up with a Polish speaker are remote. I would say zero, but to my astonishment someone who speaks Amharic came along a couple of months ago. Anyway, I am hoping that if you don't have time or aren't interesting you can do something with this that would attract some Polish-speaking eyes. Maybe ping someone else? You're my best shot. @Elinruby Are you asking if I have the time & will to copyedit this article for English prose? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 00:37, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
PiotrusAnd interest. Someone seems to think that fixing this article requires a knowledge of Polish, which is why I thought of you. I have no emotional investment in this article beyond reducing the Pages in need of translation queue. Perhaps if you are not interested, you know someone who might be. If not that is ok. I have come to accept the given the way Wikipedia treats its translators, anyone who ties work that queue will be disincentivized and the queue will grow to infinity over time. I took another look at it last night in a fit of madness, is all. Elinruby (talk) 00:59, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Elinruby I'd suggest asking at WT:POLAND but realistically, we have to wait. I am mildly interested in this, but I also believe that in few years (a dozen or so), given improvements in MT and AI, we will have a bot perfectly fixing prose (i.e. I expect the job of copyeditor to become as obsolete as that of translator is these days). So IMHO copyediting for prose today is wasting the time, we should just wait. Which why I will respectfully decline to fix this article, again, believing that a bot will do it in foreseeable future. @Piotrus: your call. I myself also have other fish to fry. Consider me a cat who has brought you a mouse as a sign of my love ;) I m not convinced that what you say about AI is a good thing, but we don't have to discuss that on this page. Elinruby (talk) 01:50, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Elinruby I do appreciate any and all pings. As for AI, if you care, we could chat about this at Wikipedia:Artificial intelligence I guess :P Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:52, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nihil Novi may be interested perhaps? Elinruby (talk) 07:35, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
