Removed comment about RT and sexual fetish[edit]

Come on. Everything inserted into the anus can be interpreted as a sexual fetish. The inclusion of this "fact" is completely unnecessary. 174.99.62.175 (talk) 23:23, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

At the end of the History section, there's a sentence that goes ″As thermometry-related technology improves in the 21st century, rectal thermometry is becoming less and less pervasive, but it is still the preferred method for taking the temperature of infants and pets.″ I think that it might make more sense to replace the ′but′ with an ′and′, so the sentence would read ″As thermometry-related technology improves in the 21st century, rectal thermometry is becoming less and less pervasive, and is still the preferred method for taking the temperature of infants and pets.″ because if it were to be less invasive, that would encourage more use of it, making the use of but seem weird to me. Anyway, I've never edited Wikipedia before, so I was hesitant to actually edit the article. EDIT: Also, did they mean to say invasive rather than pervasive? 69.5.111.246 (talk) 23:20, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a risk if one self-measures rectal temperature every morning 365 days/year?[edit]

Assuming a healthy adult uses water-based lubricant.

Or is it better to buy an ear themometer or other thermometer?

One can buy a thermometer that beeps after 10 seconds, is this enough or is there significant benefit from waiting longer than this? Wikipedia now mentions 1 minute, but is this really required for the quickest digital anal thermometeres, that can be bought for less than 10€ at pharmacies in Europe?

Citations[edit]

There is a citation [3] from Quizlet, a user generated flash card site. High risk for self citation, in addition to being an objectively low quality source. Consider removing or improving. 71.40.216.90 (talk) 19:38, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the source and added a {{medcn}} template to indicate that a reliable medical source is needed. Kimen8 (talk) 19:58, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
