Fake Tracklist

Ok, an unconfirmed tracklist of an album due to be released in about 5 months, is probably fake.(it also contains many songs from fake tracklists of relapse 1).Bnvdarklord (talk) 10:03, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

People keep changing the tracklist, is there a way to lock the page? McKillaboy (talk) 15:07, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Background

The two albums were recorded at the same time and actually were supposed to be one album, so as a matter of fact they have the same background. --DasallmächtigeJ (talk) 10:24, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

No, they actually are not. The Background section is suppose to indicate the events that immediately preceded the release of the album, hence it's called "background". On this article, the background should really be about the reception of the first of the two Relapse with whatever may come along with it. To be honest, there really very very little to write on this album at the current moment. Thanks, Do U(knome)? yes...or no 12:31, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, actually I thought that the background was about The personal things an artist went through while making the album and what convinced him to make it, but if you say so, then it seems I was mistaking. --DasallmächtigeJ (talk) 17:03, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
It seems that the album came out of the same recording sessions as Relapse, so maybe the background could be extended a bit to somehow mention that? Although there's nothing to really confirm that, other than Eminem's statement about him and Dre going back into the studio for six months, and even that doesn't exactly make it clear, as all the Relapse 2 songs could have been recorded after the stuff that winds up on Relapse. So yeah, probably best to leave it alone... ElijahReno (talk) 19:54, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Squared?

Why was the article moved to a squared? Has this been confirmed? --HELLØ ŦHERE 18:33, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

This got removed from the original article, but on therelapse.com a fictious tour through em's fake popsomp hills rehab center he has another room set to open on june 3rd. i have to think this will be when em reveals the release date.76.227.149.209 (talk) 02:43, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Even if the album carried a superscript 2 in the title, the article should still be named "Relapse 2". See other articles covering subjects with superscript numbers in their titles, such as Alien 3, Doom 3 and Postal 2. Digitelle (talk) 03:52, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Lock the article

I think the article doesn't really need any more edits for now. Many people keep adding unconfirmed tracklists etc, so i think is should be locked for the time being.Bnvdarklord (talk) 14:47, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

It's kinda exhausting. We just got over the vandalism problem in the Relapse article...--DasallmächtigeJ (talk) 20:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Eminem's own website calls it "Relapse: Refill". If you're going to lock the article, at least change the title. [1] --70.73.43.100 (talk) 23:29, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Dude one, this wasn't about the title. And two, Relapse: Refill is a re-release of Relapse why can't people understand this? It is NOT a NEW album. It IS an OLD album with NEW tracks. They are VERY different. A reissue (also known as a re-release or re-edition) is the repeated issue of a published work. In common usage it refers to an album which has been released at least once before and is released again, sometimes with alterations or additions. SE KinG. User page. It doesn't matter how many websites refer to it as such. Until there is an official press release for the album, the way the number suffix will be presented is up in the air. Digitelle (talk) 19:12, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Insult to Injury

There's a song called "Insult to Injury" on Relapse 2.

Also, this is probably not relevant enough for a mention, but according to producer Mark Batson (one of Dre's staff), the lead single for Relapse 2 is somewhat of a sequel to "The Real Slim Shady."

Source: http://twitter.com/markbatson

It's a legit Twitter. Paul Rosenberg (Em's manager) is following him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.191.114.206 (talk) 10:50, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

I understand, but it has to be third party. If any other website (not related to Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit/Interscope) talks about it, it's perfectly acceptable. Ya know? --HELLØ ŦHERE 20:34, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

NEW SONG!

NEW SINGLE or just a song off Relapse 2???

The song is titled "The Warning", it's a diss towards Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Source is here: http://www.rapbasement.com/audio/eminem-ft-mariah-carey-the-warning.html --TheHalfbreed (talk) 23:52, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Neither, or at least neither can be verified yet. I'm pretty sure it's just a song Eminem did on the side as a response to Nick Cannon's comments a couple of months ago. I wouldn't expect to see it on the album. Digitelle (talk) 00:06, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

    • Well i would agree with you. but the song Bagpipes from Baghdad was a dissing response towards Mariah Carey and was placed on Relapse. Later Carey released her response titled Obsessed and now Em releases this song. . . There was also previous dissing songs between the two and they were all on previous albums. So there may be a possibility that The Warning is on relapse 2. Just need to wait for the future to find out. --TheHalfbreed (talk) 06:36, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Exactly, there may be a possibility. And was "Bagpipes from Baghdad" released long before the album? It's unsourced that it has anything to do with this album. I would maybe say that if he mentioned either Relapse or Relapse 2 in the song at all, it could maybe be included. But as of right now, there is nothing connecting this song to this album, so it's left out. --HELLØ ŦHERE 06:39, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
The difference between "The Warning" and "Bagpipes from Baghdad" is that "Bagpipes from Baghdad" was recorded during the sessions of Relapse and Relapse 2 (the sessions were held at the same time, but the songs are being compiled separately), whereas the content in "The Warning" deals with Nick Cannon's comments and Mariah Carey's latest music video, both of which happened much later after the principal album sessions took place. Real Or Fake?Looks Real

Newest info I got people. Heres the link, doesnt mean its confirmed, just speculation

http://www.realraptalk.com/f3/eminem-relapse-2-tracklist-leak-893294/

Eminems new album Relapse 2 is set to be released on December 15th 2009, and is split into two acts, Sleep talking and Awakening. The first act is supposed to represent being blinded by anger, while the second act represents, as its title says, awakening. This is also the first album released by Eminem to not have any skits or joke songs. Eminem stated he wanted the album to be his strongest album, in case he decided Relapse 2 would be his last.

Tracklist

ACT I - Sleep Talking

1. With Shut Eyes 2. Norman Bates Motel (Feat. 50 cent) 3. A Poets Graveyard 4. Make It Wise 5. With In These Walls (Feat. Nate Dogg) 6. Sixth Sense 7. S.O.S (Sound Of Shady) 8. Haunted Nation (Feat. Snoop Dogg) 9. Insult To Injury 10. Spitters Symphony (Feat. D12)

ACT II - Awakening

11. The Ghost Of Shady's Past 12. Marshall's Chains 13. Detoxification (Feat. Dr.Dre) 14. Dreadful Sins 15. Sober (Feat. Amy Winehouse) 16. Flight Of The Dead 17. The Final Chapter 18. Gun Slinger (Feat. Royce Da 5'9) 19. Waking Up (Feat. Proof and Elton John)

The album will be out December 15th 2009, and be sure look for the first single "Make It Wise" sometime in November.

Two of which are Drake's Forever, and DJ Hero's Taking My Ball. the remaining 5 are leftover from the making of the original Relapse and Relapse 2. Hit Me With Your Best Shot Ft D12

It's been almost two years since Detroit's D12 have collectively released an album. While 2008's Dirty Dozen was the group's first to showcase them without the marquee attraction of Eminem or their late co-founder Proof, Bizarre explained how the respective members have been using their time apart.

While on tour in Canada promoting his Friday Night At St. Andrew's album, Bizarre called in to the "Conspiracy Worldwide" radio show to address all things D12.

"We're still recording the third album, and we just finished a song on Relapse 2 for Marshall's album," Bizarre said via phone. Tentatively titled "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," Bizarre says the collaboration shows that despite major losses such as the death of co-founding member Proof, nothing can keep the group down.

"We're still family , but everybody's got their own situations going on," he added. "No matter what y'all do, you can't hold D12 down. We've been through a lot of shit, but we're still gonna come back and recover."

Exactly. There's absolutely no f-ing way Lil Wayne, Drake, and Lloyd Banks are on the album. Heck, 50 Cent may be questionable at this point. I'd say the only feature to EXPECT would be Dre, as he's the executive producer and has had a verse on every Eminem album to date (except Infinite.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Evan1989 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't doubt if Drake was going to be on Recovery, as Eminem is an executive producer for Drake's Thank Me Later and Drake has stated Dre and Em will be on a song together. Aside from that fact, there is no sources pointing to Drake being on the album, so it shouldn't keep being put into the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.37.123 (talk) 19:29, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

The album cover is fake. It's a still from the "Beautiful" video. Someone please remove it.

No, it is sourced by a reliable source. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 20:52, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

What reliable source? It's a photo from the annual Eminem calender , I can scan my calender as proof. Asid12345678 (talk) 19:43, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

It was posted by Rap-Up Magazine when "Not Afraid" was posted. Click on the cover and look at source. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 19:45, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes , and where does it confirm that it's the album cover . Rap Up is the same website that posted the fake Refill tracklist saying it was true . Since when did blogs like Rap Up become official sources sir. Asid12345678 (talk) 19:48, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Here is a scan of my 2010 Eminem calender http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/369/13backcover.th.jpg . Please get a more reliable source next time .Asid12345678 (talk) 19:50, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

The "blogs are unreliable source" rule has loopholes. Rap-Up is one of them. Also Rap-Up did not post the Refill tracklisting, I just searched the archives. Since when can't an artist use a photo for a cover? Please do not argue unless you can back it up with a source, a calendar is not even a source. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 06:55, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

And where does it mention that that is the official cover . Even smaller artists are give separate pages for official album covers . Forget smaller artists Eminem's Relapse had a separate page for the album cover.eg. Snoop dogg , Rihanna etc . Raprader which is co owned by Eminem's manager first told that might be the album cover and then deleted it .And since when did artists start using old photos as Album cover . Atleast Eminem doesn't do that . Asid12345678 (talk) 09:24, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Your argument is still invalid. Your saying all these things without providing ANY kind of proof or sources. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 19:10, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Excuse me , YOU are the one you should provide proof here . Every person here is supporting me except you . Give us proof that Rap-up has written that it's the official cover of the album . Give us proof that Eminem has been using OLD pictures as album covers . Give us proof that Rap-Up has stopped making separate pages for covers of Anticipated Albums .In face Recovery was placed at the 2nd position at Rap=up in the most anticipated lists . Give us proof that why Eminem has not even put the album cover on his twitter or his own website like he did when Relapse's album cover was released . Please give us Proof . Asid12345678 (talk) 20:05, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Who is supporting you? Your the only one arguing with me. I have posted the link where Rap-Up posted the cover and I provided the source on the image page. It doesn't matter if they didn't post it separate. They still posted it. The only thing you have provided is redundant explanations of original research and a picture of a calendar. I don't see how that makes you think your right. Stop arguing and find a source that says the cover posted is not official and I'll gladly drop my argument. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 20:11, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I was asked to join this discussion, but I'm actually not quite sure on which side I'll come down on. SE KinG is right that Rap-Up isn't just a blog, it's also a magazine, and the one time it was brought up at the noticeboard for reliable sources it was called reliable. However, I for one am not sure how much to trust their page. They are not audited, and they do get things wrong: a very recent error I remember is that they claimed Rihanna's "Rockstar 101" to be released as her fourth single, which turned out to be false (but MTV got that one wrong too, so ...).
Rap-Up has categorized the article as Album Covers, FWIW, and it's not necessarily an issue that the cover is based on a still from the video. Asid, do you have something further on the incorrect tracklist that you say came from Rap-Up? You said the image was circulating, can you point towards other sites where the image was brought up? I couldn't find any, only other fakes.
I've just added a disclaimer in the caption, to distance ourselves somewhat from the fact, and asked User:Kww for his opinion. Hopefully this will clear up over the next few days anyway.
Cheers, Amalthea 22:17, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

No where in that reference provided is stated that this image is the album cover of this album. Do U(knome)? yes...or no 02:57, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Agreed it says no where in the source that thats the cover. When did a picture next to something that mentions a song in the album become the cover. It could be a promotional poster. And plus it doesnt look like something Eminem would make his album cover. STAT- Verse 03:14, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Exactly , since when did "rumored" covers started getting accepted on wikipedia . Raprapdar changed the image n the article as soon as they knew it was fake , they changed to some photo of Eminem performing so there's no way I can give any "proof" on that base but still just wait for 15-20 days when the tracklist and Cover are released through Em's twitter like it did last year during Relapse . Asid12345678 (talk) 04:51, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

For starters, Twitter is an unreliable source. And still NO ONE has provided anything besides original research to prove the album cover is fake. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 05:46, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

For vetrans , Twitter can be considered a reliable source if the account is verified and the title of the artists album was announced on the twitter itself . Asid12345678 (talk) 06:27, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

No one uses Twitter as a reliable source. This argument is just being repeated points. Just because a picture was used before, it does not justify it to be removed. T.I. used the same picture for his singles "Hell of a Life" and "I'm Back", "Live in the Sky"'s single cover art was a desktop wallpaper that T.I. had on his website. So, just because an artist uses a picture once, doesn't mean they can't use it again. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 03:19, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
An Album cover is Different from a Single Cover . Eminem too has been using old photo's as his Single cover including the recent single Not Afraid who's photo was circulating around for a few days .Also ,Hell Breaks Loose , Elevator , Just Lose It , Encore (the single) , Stan , The Way I Am . But then again , i was just doing what you did , repeating the facts you already know . An Album cover , specially by the Biggest Artist of our time makes news . Relapse's cover had a separate page on MTV .So , I'm surprised you didn't change the title of the album back to Relapse 2 because for the first 10 days until Eminem gave the radio interview , his twitter was the only way we knew about his Album's title as Recover but then again you'll say the twitter rule as loopholes right ? Weird how Rap-Up is the only website who wish to show the cover of Eminem's album anymore . Guess the man who has the highest selling Rap Album of this century and the highest selling Rap Album of 2009 is over . God Help Him . Asid12345678 (talk) 07:29, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
FWIW, a Twitter account of a singer can be used as a primary source, for facts where it is appropriate. But that doesn't help us here. Amalthea 10:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Actually, the day he announced he changed his album title to Recovery, he also posted it on his website and MTV posted it. This argument is now redundant with the same thing being said. I'm done arguing, removing sourced content goes against Wiki policies. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 12:07, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Are you referring to me? I only talked about Twitter as a source in general, I'm not arguing against the cover image: I agree that it's coming from a reliable source, no other reliable source disputes it, so it passes WP:VERIFIABILITY. Since it hasn't been confirmed officially and I am somewhat suspicious, I added the disclaimer to explicitly say where it came from. Since nobody can offer anything beyond suspicions, I agree that we should keep it unless it can be shown as false. Amalthea 13:38, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Okay, the source stated does not state that it is the album cover. If he did release the album cover then the site you cited would have a seperate news article for it, not one for the song "Not Afraid". Also the listing for Recovery at Amazon.com does not display anything for the cover yet. I have looked and I cannot find any reputable sources that also state that is if the official album cover, just a bunch of fan sources. If it was the official album cover then it would be announced on all of the reputable sources, including MTV. Even the people in Eminem's forums have proven it to be a fake [3]. Therefore it is not the official cover for "Recovery". Taylor Karras (talk | contribs | Rcool35) 22:39, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Those are two AMAZING sources you have provided, a forum and a retailer. Great job. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 05:02, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Note that Amazon.com is a big and notable retailer, obviously if this was the real album cover then we would see it on Amazon.com, also the forum thing is not proof that it is a fake, it is a consensus that the album cover is a fake. Your missing out on the fact that the source (Rap-Up.com) does not state that this is the official album cover, anywhere. The image is just used in relation to a new song, where does it state in the source that this is the album cover, the official album cover. Also what do you mean Eminem and MTV posted this cover on his website, can you give me a source for that?
This is completely crazy, if it's posted on Eminem's twitter, website, MTV or Amazon.com then it's official, otherwise it's fake unless the source states that it's the official cover. And I'm not referring to Wikipedia, I'm referring to everywhere. Taylor Karras (talk | contribs | Rcool35) 05:42, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't matter how big of a retailer Amazon is, it is NOT a reliable source. You need to read Wikipedia's reliable source policy before you attempt to argue sources. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 12:14, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
It's a reliable source to me because the major music companies (UMG, Warner Music Group, EMI, Sony Music) sell their products on Amazon and it's also a reliable source because the major music companies post what the official album cover actually is. Also aren't you ignoring the two other sources... It's kind of odd you would focus on one thing. Taylor Karras (talk | contribs | Rcool35) 01:24, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

"The song features his rap group D12, Bizarre of D12 said the new song shows the groups strength despite losing Proof, who was the founder of the group. " ^There are two errors. First, the first comma creates a comma splice that must be removed (i.e., replace the comma with a period). As discussed two sections up, at #Album cover, isn't it possible that the same image is being reused as a cover? The magazine Rap-Up claims the image to be the cover, by listing it in its "Album covers" category. They are usually reliable, but it's not a sure thing of course unless confirmed by the production company, which is why the cover is captioned with "according to Rap-Up". I love how some people think they are intelligent saying its real. No, it's not, lol. It was cropped from a freakin' calender. It was from the Beautiful music video shoot. Cool, thanks man. I read that paragraph, and it said it could be placed into the article if there was broad media coverage, well here's a few stories of the leak: [4][5][6][7] And considering that this is the most anticipated album of 2010, [8] and it leaked a full two weeks before it would be released, (thats a huge amount of time! {{editsemiprotected}} To Whom This May Concern:

Please change the producer credits for Eminem's song "Cinderella Man" Just Blaze did not produce the song, rather it was produced by Script Shepherd.

Under Track Listing for Recovery (Eminem album)

Please change: 11. "Cinderella Man" Just Blaze 4:39

To correct way: 11. "Cinderella Man" Script Shepherd 4:39

Right now it says that producer credit for this song is confirmed on Eminem.com However, it is not confirmed on this website. It only lists the name of the tracks and not the producer credit. This fact can be confirmed on capitolscript.com as well as the album sleeve when it is released. {{editprotected}} The last sentence in the introduction will cause decline in the sale of the album so please delete it. RIAA will be happy trust me. The sentence tells that the album leaked. Don't spread illegal things on Wikipedia. Make Wikipedia the only place where everything is legal. Thank You.

Gogomkd123 (talk) 11:18, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

We're not here for the pupose of increasing record sales, so your justification in the first sentence is inadequate. I personally could not give a rat's toenail if RIAA is happy or not. The sentence about it leaking may not be worthy of including in the lede, or even in the article at all (music and films frequently leak, and it's not always notable), but it actually did happen. Your instruction not to "spread illegal things on Wikipedia" suggests two things: (1) that we are telling people to distribute or consume the album without permission, which we are not; and (2) that we should remove all mention of any other crime, act of treason, riot, unethical behavior, malfeasance, or arguably illegal activity, etc., from every article in WP. And how would we write about our governments then? Or, heh, the RIAA?
Or did you confuse this site with Napster or somebody? No downloads here. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 11:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
☒N Not done and not likely to be done. The information included is based upon reports in the media and it is directly relevant to the article. We don't encourage people to download it, and we certainly don't include links to the leaked content itself - we merely report that there has been a leak. In other words there is nothing illegal here, and a possible reaction to correct content is not our responsibility. Marking this request as done as well. Yo Unlock this page right now

The album is dropping in less than a week now, and there are major errors on this page. First of all, the producers list is right here:

http://www.rapbasement.com/eminem/060910-the-producers-of-eminems-recovery-album-are-leaked-view-the-info-here-click-now.html

There are major errors on this page pertaining to that list. Then I myself, made an error in putting the Havoc track as "Here We Go," it is infact entitled "Untitled." It is also a Hidden Track, not a bonus track. There will be two iTunes bonus tracks that are currently untitled as of yet, you can check them out in the Deluxe Pre-Order of Recovery on iTunes. You also need to unlock this page because the album did get pushed up a day earlier to June 21rst, as someone already stated. So please act immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Broomtherapper (talkcontribs) 03:41, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

OK, I updated the information as mentioned by Static and yourself. I will not mention the exclusive tracks mentioned on iTunes until titles of the tracks are released (more appropriate to have them already titled than have "Exclusive Track" #1 and #2). I'm assuming the block remains still for another few days. Any further edits, mention them on the talk page and we'll consider them. -Esanchez(Talk 2 me or Sign here) 04:02, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Why is this page locked??

The album is coming out soon, a lot of important new information is coming out and needs to get on the page quickly? As for the professional reviews section - as much as I disagree with Pitchfork's review, I believe their rating belongs on the page because they're a reputable site. But what is DJBooth.net? Just some relatively unknown hip-hop blog, from the looks of it. I don't think site this qualifies as a source of "professional reviews", and thus it doesn't belong in the "professional reviews" section on this page. 69.117.23.65 (talk) 19:00, 18 June 2010 (UTC)david, new york—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.117.23.65 (talk) 18:58, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Reviews

I don't think its fair to say that Recovery has received mixed reviews. That's based on a couple of early reviews from minor publications. Overall reception has been mixed to positive, but it's still too early to make a statement like that because the major reviewers like Rolling Stone and XXL haven't published reviews yet and the album hasn't even been released.

wikipedia is not showing any reviews written by an actual hiphop site. hiphopdx gave the album a 4/5 EDIT!!!!

Reviews

As mentioned above, it is far too early to deem whether or not Recover has received mixed or positive or negative reviews. Please remove the reviews from the non-official websites, such as slantmagazine.com which gave one of the most respected and praised albums in rap, The Marshall Mathers LP, a 1.5. It should therefore be deemed a nonreliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.77.103.115 (talk) 18:47, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

It appears Metacritic only complied 5 reviews, which was the source for the album receiving poor ones. That's fishy. What's also fishy is the unnecessarily diverse amount of reviews compiled in the the Reception section. Most of these are from random or smaller publications or websites - where is Rolling Stone, Allmusic, Blender, etc? Those reviews haven't been written yet. We rarely use most of these reviewers sited, if ever, why use them here? --Iron Chef (talk) 20:21, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Won't back Down is one, but there's LOTS of rock samples and acoustics. Lots of singing is involved as well... As for Pitchfork, I agree. Why was the review from The Daily Telegraph removed ?!! More of that, I don't understand why minor negative reviews remains on the page (Slant Magazine...), when some positive reviews (about.com, Atlantic) disappears again and again. Vincent.gva (talk) 09:39, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Critical response

This section is a mess. There is no flow or grouping whatsoever, and the articles and reviews chosen are chaotic. Most of the cited reviews are from minor publications that aren't really used on most other albums. --Iron Chef (talk) 21:13, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Also, the cited source for the statement "received generally mixed reviews" is Metacritic, but at the moment metacritic has only compiled 5 reviews. So the score will change as more are added. Therefore this statement may become invalid very soon. --Iron Chef (talk) 21:20, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

EDIT 2: Don't remove the tags without discussing them here first. --Iron Chef (talk) 21:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

The reviews are grouped by the rating/criticism (first paragraph has mixed, second w/positive etc.); whether a publication is "minor" is irrelevant. And when Metacritic's page is updated then so will the article. Dan56 (talk) 21:39, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Wrong. The section may be loosely organized, but the problem is there are far more lines dedicated to particular reception (in this case, negative).

It needs major trimming. You can't just include every review you happen upon. The most commonly used reviewers for popular music (thus forming a loose standard) are Allmusic, Robert Christgau, Entertainment Weekly, and Rolling Stone. It's not like you can't include minor publications, but there's the question of what makes Slant Magazine more worthy to be included over some other minor publisher? Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It makes for cluttered articles with far too much information on a particular aspect of a subject.

And to arbitrarily use any source just because it's been reliable in the past is irresponsible. The statement should be all together left out until the source can be counted on. And using WP:Common Sense, a compilation of 5 reviews isn't very reliable. --Iron Chef (talk) 21:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

http://www.popmatters.com/pm/review/127268-eminem-recovery/ This guys review really shows his lack of knowledge of rap in general. -Also, Eminem would be far better off if he never tried to sing his own hook again. Dude just can’t sing. -For all of his lyrical failings, particularly when it comes to women, however, he has an ace in the hole on Recovery: Rihanna. -Eminem will never make an album free of his hateful asides and misogynist tendencies—this much is clear. It’s particularly unfortunate because if Recovery teaches us anything it is that he absolutely does not need them. He seems to think it’s what we expect of him, and therefore he must provide lest we be disappointed in his newly cleaned-up act

Yes eminem don't sing in you hook even though you did the same on every album and propelled yourself to stardom for it. Please delete this idiots review. misogynist-tendancies? Yes just bringing up his mother means he hates every woman alive. Good reviewing. Remove this guys comments because he is just chatting shit. Also slant probably donates to wikipedia for some advertising fees. You should really moderate properly by checking well known webpages rather than sponsors/negatives just to even reviews out. These people are comparing this album to Marshall mathers LP for "greatness" even though they gave the same album unfavourable reviews. You don't do wikipedia any favours with inconsistency. --- Preceeding unsigned comment by 94.1.216.168

WHOA!

Shouldn't this be in the BACKGROUND section?

On April 13, 2010, Eminem tweeted "There is no Relapse 2" to his followers. When he tweeted this, people started to believe that he was not releasing an album at all, but it meant simply that the album would be changed to Recovery. He confirmed this by tweeting "Recovery" with a link to his website. Eminem said "I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title."[11][12] On April 27, Eminem released a freestyle titled "Despicable" over "Over" by Drake and "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley" by Lloyd Banks featuring Juelz Santana as promo for the first single, "Not Afraid", which debuted on Shade 45 on April 29.[13]

Album covers

I will reverse the album covers images. According to Eminem.com, the cover of him walking down the street is the "edited" (clean?) version; the glass cube cover is explicit, which would be the artist's intended version. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 01:23, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

So what??? If you have seen any promotion for the album they always show the one of him walking down the road as the cover. STAT -Verse 01:26, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
You're right, that picture of him on the road does seem to be used more frequently on reviews and articles. I still think "explicit" albums are the intended, and primary, versions of an artist's vision, but your mature and kind response showed me otherwise. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 05:17, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Im sorry about not being "kind". And of note I bought the album today at Target which sells the explict versions and the cover on it is the one with him walking down the road as is all the copies there for sale. STAT -Verse 22:52, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
That's okay—it was the "So what???" part sort of threw me off, but you had a valid point, and I saw the explicit versions for sale with the street cover also. Can't argue with real world examples. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:19, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

uhh...[citation needed] flagitious (talk) 06:26, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

I actually have a slight problem with the word "interpolation"—the guitar part may have been sampled (although I don't know if this is really the case because the guitar part sounds completely re-recorded and played in various chord progressions). Interpolate means to insert into; nothing was inserted anywhere, the song is played with or on top of the guitar riff. In the film industry, interpolation is used to mean the creation of frames between two separate frames, like morphing. I'm not seeing either of these definitions working for the song description. - Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:25, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Alternate cover

Some people are determined to remove the alternate cover from the article, including by attempting to have it speedily deleted "behind the scenes". There have been many discussions on whether or not the alternate cover can be considered fair use, and the consensus reached at these discussions (two of which are here and here) is boiled down to: an alternate cover that is significantly different from the original and is widely distributed and/or replaces the original passes the criteria for identification. Also, an alternate cover that is the subject of specific (sourced) critical commentary passes the criteria for inclusion. In short, the alternate cover on this article is significantly different from the original and is widely distributed, which passes criteria for identification. There is also some critical commentary in the article, in the Artwork section, where both covers are given a description, including the location of the alternate cover. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 18:36, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

After I questioned his removal he posted this on my talk page: "On wikipedia the primary preference for images are those which are classfied as free content. Per the policy at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria non-free content can only be used when free content is not available.
  • Critically WP:NFCC#3a states that Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information. Therefore the use of more than one single/album cover is almost always not justifiable.
  • Additionally WP:NFCC#8 states that Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Therefore if words alone can explain alternative versions or releases of an album then additional covers are not allowed." Red Flag on the Right Side 18:40, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Should definately be mentionned somewhere somehow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MrMonomaku (talkcontribs) 16:39, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Should not be done. Of course the fan response would be different, because fans of any artist tend to love whatever music the artist puts out. Lil Wayne fans loved Rebirth because he was one of their favorite artists, but did critics agree? Hell no. Is fan response mentioned in the Rebirth article (or any other album article for that matter)? Nope. Just because this is Eminem doesn't mean his album should get special treatment whereas others do not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.125.159.186 (talk) 14:33, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Why not? Relapse was looked down upon, even by his own fans, as his worst work to date (Both at the time of release, and present day). Critics agreed that it wasn't top notch. The case here is different however, as Recovery is getting panned by critics, but fans think it's one of Eminem's best albums. Rebirth wasn't that positively received by fans either. Some thought it was good, but hasn't taken off like this one has. I think the debut week sales spoke for all 3 of these albums. If Rebirth was good, it would have sold more then the 150K it did. Relapse wasn't great, debuted with 612K whereas Recovery made a debut with 741K, and the album was leaked two weeks earlier... fans speak in masses. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.210.44.206 (talk) 02:21, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. Fans didn't like Rebirth. It has a 2.5/5 average rating on Amazon. Recovery has a 4.5/5 after Encore had a 3/5 and Relapse had a 4/5. Jp0291 (talk) 04:13, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Fans didn't like Relapse when it was released? Are you serious? All I heard about Relapse when it leaked was how amazing it was lyrically and how it was the record that should have come out after the Eminem Show. My best friend is an Eminem fanatic who loved Relapse to death when he got it. Then Eminem dissed Relapse on Recovery at least 3 times and suddenly Em's fans are dissing the same album they were praising a year ago. Now my friend says the only song he likes on Relapse was Beautiful. Eminem's fans just followed whatever he said and just went with it. Just look at the comments on this page that was related to Relapse back when it was released on RapBasement.com: http://www.rapbasement.com/eminem/052109-kanye-west-and-run-dmc-member-dmc-talk-about-eminems-new-album-relapse.html The vote ratio was about 8:1 in favor of Relapse. And nowadays the same people bash Relapse just because Recovery was better than it. I never liked Relapse, and I never will. I thought Recovery was good (not great), and critics didn't pan the album, it got generally favorable reviews. Like I've said before, just because the fans liked it more than the critics (which is almost always true for any artist), it doesn't mean Eminem gets special treatment and gets a fan response section. And Wayne has more haters than he does fans nowadays, thats why the Amazon and iTunes ratings are so low for the album. Sure, it was a piece of sh!t but I haven't heard a Wayne fan tell me that they didn't like Rebirth yet (and there's plenty at my school). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.125.159.186 (talk) 18:00, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
I think that has to do with replay value. I LOVED the album when it first came out but I started disliking it WAY before Eminem said anything about disliking it. I used to listen to every single song on the album daily besides Crack a Bottle and Old Time's Sake. Always hated those two. But now I only listen to Hello and Deja Vu. Not saying this is everyone's case. And there are plenty of Lil Wayne fans that hate Rebirth. My friend who has every single album and mixtape hates it. I just don't get why a critic's opinion matters more than a fan's. Another thing, the metacritic user score is really high also. But look at Drake's. It has a 7-something. Not very good. Just saying that ends the "of the course the fans like it" argument. Jp0291 (talk) 17:13, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

---

My sentiments exactly. It's fundamentally specious for the Wikipedia editors to include reviews from Pitchfork Media and Slant Magazine -- two expansive and nonspecific publications devoted to broad criticism and commentary --, while excluding a review from a reputable and specialized Internet publication that exclusively explores the realm of "Hip Hop" in HipHopDX. Alas, with the omission of HipHopDX's critique, Recovery's Wikipedia review section appears fragmentary and invalid.

In this topic, Eminem fans complaining about the low reviews given by notable music sites. --Esanchez(Talk 2 me or Sign here) 00:44, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

--- A disingenuous Wikipedia contributor (and Will Smith fan) vehemently attempting to rationalize a rather lamentable omission. Nobody was asking for the Pitchfork/Slant reviews to get repudiated; rather, readers were merely asking that ulterior reviews -- including the one on HipHopDX -- be included to lend more credence to the critique section.

The album has now gone platinum, as it has sold over a million copies. that should be mentioned in this article.

Orphaned references in Recovery (Eminem album)

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Recovery (Eminem album)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Seriously guys stop playin' with words do something right for every albums. On the Tracklisting category, instead of using the word "writer(s)", use the word "songwriter(s)" (meaning all the people who create the song meaning lyricist + beat makers...). It is used on every articles I see on wikipedia (ex : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Don_Killuminati:_The_7_Day_Theory). Writers are the people who wrote the lyrics, and trust me Resto and others are not lyricist but beat makers.

"For the seventh week in a row, Eminem’s “Recovery” holds on to the number one spot on the Billboard charts."

“Recovery” holds on to the number one spot on the Billboard charts. The soul-searching hip-hop album now holds the record for accruing the most weeks at number one since “Speakerboxx/The Love Below” by Outcast reached seven weeks at the top back in 2003."

NO LOVE WILL BE NEXT SINGLE

It has been determined, however, that the next single from "Recovery" will be "No Love," a collaboration with Lil Wayne. "I did a song with Wayne called 'Drop the World' for his ('Rebirth') album," Eminem notes, "and we had just agreed to do an even swap, so I wanted him on my album. I kind of waited, and when Just Blaze had finished that beat we jumped on it."

You forgot to present your reliable sources (for your second sentence, not your first). — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 20:51, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

THERE IS NO NEED FOR A 'RELIABLE SOURCE' - just simple maths:

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 741,000 copies.[42] The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling 140,000 copies in its first week in the United Kingdom.[50] In Canada, the album sold 85,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number one on Canada's Albums Chart.[51] In Japan, Oricon recorded a debut of number six with 20,678 units sold.[54] It also went gold in its first week in New Zealand and Australia, debuting at number one in both countries.[55][56] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.3.249.51 (talkcontribs) 22:01, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

This falls under WP:OR and, I think, WP:SYNTH, so isn't useful for us at WP. Find some reliable source who's done the simple maths for you, then it can be added. You can't reliably add certs and sales from different countries to come up with some reliable worldwide total, which is one reason worldwide totals attract a lot of scepticism around here. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 22:58, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

No you can't. You're right. Hence the generalization: "Over a million worldwide" I haven't given an exact number but its true that it is over a million.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.3.249.51 (talk) 11:23, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

There is an error in this article. Recovery isn't the best selling album of 2010. Mediatraffic is not a reliable source. Most sites with .de in the url (denoting a forum, self-published sources) arent reliable. Dan56 (talk) 12:24, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

And where is your reliable source puts it sold 5.7? Do not even have links that lead to a source where you put that..

I find it incredible to continue staying with those sales when it sold over a million more! (sorry for mi english)

--Memarna (talk) 03:30, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Yes, everything in the lead should be, at the very least, sourced in the article body. In this case, the statement you're referring to that is in the lead is also in the commercial performance section. Dan56 (talk) 04:24, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

All the websites that say they sold 5.7 are dated 2010. During the 2011 'Recovery' has continued to sell throughout the world. At Billboard you can see, and surpassed the 4 millions of copies. Him continue to sell in the U.S. and still putting 2010 sales?

You search on google and see as many sites say their sales are between 6 and 7 million of copies.

Here are links where it says it has sold 7 million copies:

http://brilliantlyblunt.com/?tag=wtt http://www.slimshadyfans.com/2012/02/eminems-recovery-reaches-4x-platinum.html

Also in the part of "Commercial Performance" says that: By the end of its release year, and only six months after release, Recovery had sold over 5,700,000 albums worldwide

I mean, the end of the year and six months after its release. We are in 2012 and the album was released almost two years.

--Memarna (talk) 07:33, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

That site is a fansite; no user-generated content per WP:RS. This works itself out: if the sales figure is notable enough, it's reported through a reliable source. Feel free to find one, but we can't assume and try to find any source. Dan56 (talk) 19:43, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
