Rancora vs. Ranchora[edit]

I initially thought Ranchor Prime was not in the Srila Prabhupada Disciple Database as they use the spelling "Rancora." I'm not familiar with the language and so don't know if that spelling is in error, if the word Rancora is valid and different than Ranchora, or of they are equivalent. The present text has "and received name Ranchora Das[12], which means 'servant of Krishna'". As the text is defining the meaning of the word Ranchora, or maybe it's Rancora, it seems confirming the spelling is important. Also, which of the Indo-Aryan languages is being referenced here? I can't find rancora in a dictionary other than as a a genus of moths. --Marc Kupper|talk 18:33, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to show that c and ch are different. Is the article in error or the Srila Prabhupada Disciple Database database? I suspect this can be answered by someone who knows the language well and how the word "servant" in that context should be translated and spelled. --Marc Kupper|talk 06:02, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's the same case as Caitanya / Chaitanya. C is pronounced as CH in chart, CH is C+h.--Gaura79 (talk) 10:23, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - His home page adds "Ranchor Das" to the possible variants of his name leading to. "(Ranchor OR Ranchora OR Rancora OR Rancor) (Prime OR Dasa OR Das)" to Google him up. --Marc Kupper|talk 15:28, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
