Raffi (disambiguation)Raffi (given name) – This disambiguation page lists only people who go by the first name or mononym Raffi, with the possible exception of the Armenian novelist who uses Raffi as a pen name. Per MOS:DABNAME, articles which list only persons with a certain name are not disambiguation pages, they are anthroponymy pages. Therefore, this article should follow the naming style and layout standards of Wikiproject Anthroponymy. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 15:29, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I wasn't sure how to handle that, hence the discussion. This page would be left as a redirect to the anthro page, so the difficulty is addressed. At least for the musician, Raffi is actually his first name although he uses it as a mononym, and I think it's the same way for Boghosyan but I'm not sure. I don't really know how to handle pen names in this situation, but as examples, Mark Twain is listed on Mark (name), and Ellis Bell is listed at Bell (surname) but not the given name page Ellis. Yeah, pretty much. Disambiguation is needed for any case where someone would expect to type in "Raffi" and get that article, which is the case for the musician, the novelist, and apparently the Bulgarian singer. A dab page is easier for navigation than an article, since articles (even on names) will start with information before getting to the list. The name article could be separate (and included on the dab page). It may be easier to just go ahead and create it.--Cúchullain t/c 16:28, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, well it seems as though Raffi is just a variation on Rafi anyway, and we already have a page on that. I'll think about this for a bit. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 16:33, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Rafi article has now been rewritten as a more traditional dab page. It might make sense to create a name article (not a dab page) at Rafi (name), discussing both Raffi and Rafi, and splitting off anything that's not known as simply "Rafi" and "Raffi" there.--Cúchullain t/c 19:12, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose move Raffi (disambiguation) back to where it should be and was, the baseline. The RM just closed to move the Canadian children's entertainer over the baseline was an example of WP:LOCALCONSENSUS voting for a trivial subject. In Britannica Raffi refers to Raffi (novelist), fine Wikipedia isn't a real encyclopedia, it's an entertainment and sports blog with an encyclopedia tacked on, but even by Wikipedia standards the children's entertainer doesn't pass the more important part of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Put the dab/name back at baseline and the musician back at (musician). In ictu oculi (talk) 17:03, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Lamberto Raffi uses it as a surname -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 05:27, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Withdrawn. With the layout changes and additions to the existing dabs, this move no longer makes sense. I will consider creating the anthro pages but that would be separate from this. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 15:10, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
