Relationship with secretary to P.M. – when?[edit]

"Mathews was in a relationship with Ainsley Gotto, personal private secretary to Prime Minister John Gorton (Liberal, 1968–71) ... Mathews also told Whitlam ..."

I specified "(Liberal, 1968–71)" myself, where specification is much needed, by reference to our biography John Gorton. But why tell Whitlam (when?), or why is Whitlam's permission relevant? We identify Gough Whitlam as P.M. Labor, 1972–75. That explanation is much needed, too. --P64 (talk) 21:19, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
