A few tweaks[edit]

Martinevans123, The4lines - I’ve made a few tweaks here. In brief:

  • British History Online - There are a number of ways this could be cited, but this is a digital version of the relevant volume of the Victoria County History, as is often the case. I used to cite as BHO but another editor suggested it’s clearer to cite it as what it is, and I think they were right. I’ve left the link as the url;
  • British Listed Buildings Online - this is a great source, and has information, e.g. coordinates, that other sites don’t. But it’s not the official source for listing info, which is Historic England for England, and Cadw for Wales. I think it’s better to use the official sources, and we have helpful templates for this. For England/HE, we have {{NHLE|num=|desc=|grade=|access-date=}} - National Historic List for England - and for Wales/Cadw, we have {{NHAW|num=|desc=grade=|access-date=}} - National Historic Assets of Wales. Then you just stick in the identifying number - use the updated one, not the Legacy ID which BLBO also includes - the name (desc), the grade and the access-date, and the template does it all for you.
  • Reference style - bad form, as I should have followed the historic style chosen by the original author, but as there was only one book, now three, I’ve flipped it to sfn, which I find one hell of a lot easier. We’re missing a page number for Mills’ Dictionary.

Hope this is helpful. Best regards. KJP1 (talk) 08:13, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
