There are two sets of litres marked on the table on this page. Can someone with a clue about this random and arbitary units rectify it.

I do realise that given the random nature of imperial units that both could well be correct, but maybe this should be pointed out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.188.238.252 (talkcontribs).

A puncheon is slightly less than 318 litres if you use the more traditional definition of 84 wine gallons (which happened to become the US gallon for liquids) and it is slightly more than 318 litres if you use the 1824 definition of 70 imperial gallons.
