1850...South America...Really?[edit]

I am reading Two Years Before the Mast, in which Dana writes of the "pulperias" of California in about 1834. I think the meaning is as described in this article, a town's "general store". But it seems the term dates earlier than indicated by this article, was not confined to company stores, and was not confined to South America! Bdushaw (talk) 15:56, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Title Should Be "Pulpería" (with an Accented i)[edit]

Hi, I'm not really adept at Wiki stuff, but the article title "Pulperia" as written is incorrect; it should be "Pulpería," with an accent/tilde on the i, which is an integral part of the word's orthography. Does anyone know how to do this? I seem to recall the article has to be moved, but I might well be misremembering. Thanks in advance for any help. Mpaniello (talk) 00:39, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There Should Be a Section on Central America[edit]

I'm half Honduran and spent part of my childhood there and still visit frequently. Pulpería is still the common name for such establishments there and in other Central-American countries as well as the Dominican Republic. I don't know more than that, so I'm not sure what I could really add to the article, but just leaving a bookmark here in case someone better-qualified happens to see this.
