As I'm intending to do a PGDE in Scotland, and as I'm currently looking for which uni to join, more info here for the future would be nice (not just for me of course) Jamandell (d69) 00:23, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the name to graduate diploma, rather than postgraduate diploma. The reason for this and the reason the name is now Professional Graduate Diploma is that the level was recognised as not having a postgraduate level of outcome, but was worth more credits (representing more study) than a certificate in the SCQF. Level descriptors can be obtained from the SCQF website www.scqf.org.uk

Postnominals[edit]

Can someone elaborate as to why the PGDE doesn't grant postnominals? I am well aware that the qualification is not a degree level course, but then nor are the PGDip or CertEd (etc) and these qualifications grant postnominals as far as I can see. In addition, the PGDE and indeed PGCE are listed on the Wikipedia list of postnominals. I have also noticed that the Open University specifically mention that their PGCE *does* grant postnominals on their course website. Can someone clear this all up?
