Royalty and aristocracy[edit]

I changed the top sentence

A prince is a member of the highest aristocracy.

to

A prince is a member of royalty or the highest title of aristocracy.

in the interest of clarity. That was reverted with the comment "Not necessarily so". Since I find that comment irelevant and don't understand why this was reverted, I am reinstating my change, with even more clarity, and asking for an explanation here as to shy we should not be clear about what a prince normally is. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 00:07, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A prince is a member of royalty or of the high aristocracy, would be better. I wouldn't describe it as a member one way and a title the other way. Prince is also not always the "highest" aristocracy. In some countries and contexts a Duke is higher. An aristocrat with a title that is perceived as lower, can actually be of a higher class in the nobility. Discussion regarding the hatnote on Prince[edit]

There is currently a discussion at Talk:Prince#Hatnote regarding the hatnote on Prince and whether or not it should include a link to Prince (musician). Watchers of this page are welcome to participate in the discussion to help establish consensus for either keeping it removing the link to Prince (musician) in the hatnote.
