Need to find references on Priddeaux

What is missing now is contrary information on the Priddeaux family which claims the surname as well, but that it is not Welsh, but French/Norman. This information is not verified as of yet and may turn out false. I have heard both that the names are related and that the spellings are merely coincidence depending on the person. --Trakon 08:51, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Relationship to the verb, to priddy

I seem to remember seeing something like, "priddy the deck," in a Patrick O'Brian novel. It might be worthwhile to discover the meaning and etymology behind the verb. Maybe there is a significant connection with the surname and military service, for example (as would appear the case with Priddy's Hard). --Trakon 09:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Prodded for deletion

I created the Priddy disambiguation page because I was looking for someone in particular with the last name Priddy. I had already known about the naval base, but I hadn't known about the town (which is where the main article directs to). In response I also created the surname page (because I am an etymology trivia nerd). The organization is appropriate, but it is true, there isn't much on the surname. If the surname page is to be deleted, what little information there is should at least be archived to the talk page of the disambiguation; I respect the philosophy of those who weed out the stub articles, but I do not believe in losing information.

On the other hand, after looking up some very common names, articles such as Anderson and Anderson (surname) exist in the same form that I originally created the Priddy pages under. In this case, it is appropirate to separate disambiguation pages from surname pages from lists of people who have the surname, etc. So it seems the question is rather about whether Anderson gets special treatment due to its wide usage, or whether Priddy is substandard because not enough information has been compliled on wikipedia. It cannot easily be both, or else the question is what surname is canonized for referencing information about itself.

Priddy is not as widespread as Anderson, but I have already increased the information on the disambiguation page, so to say the name is non-notable is inaccurate. The only thing missing is more information on the background of the name. I have decided I will find more information to add to the surname page to follow suit. The Anderson pages have now become my primary examples.
