Merge with... something...[edit]
If there was an article about polarity, as in "reverse the polarity", I would merge this into it. But there isn't; polarity is a disambig. I don't know enough about electrical things to write an article. I'm not even sure if polarity is what this article is talking about... --Alynna 00:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
What is the barrel and center (tip) of a negative/positive-polarity AC adapter?[edit]

Delete or expand. Otherwise it's wasted space.[edit]
This article seems to be a whole lot of talking to say something which should only take a short paragraph. If the issue really needs its own article perhaps expansion, in the form of explaining what potentially could happen if you switched the two. And/or explaining what rationale mfrs use to not be standard, or if there is a trend to standardize. Batvette (talk) 06:26, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
I googled to find the polarity on a plug and it redirected me here as the top most option. No other options in google explain. A standard wall plug has polarity symbols on it. If used in a standard socket for that country you will be fine. But some sometimes you want to know the plus pole and the minus pole of your device without having to destroy the rubber around the wire to look at the electric wire colours. On a 220V plug you may find: F1 S H or L on one side and N D 3 and N on the other side. If anyone with the knowledge can please explain here what is + and what is - then we can expand this wiki for polarity symbols. There are far more polarity symbols than talked about here. The ones talked about here are the easiest to understand and most intuitive. It's not likely people are searching for this symbol, they are searching to understand the harder ones. TheCyndicate (talk) 12:25, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
