This article indicates that planetetesimals form the protoplatentery disc, but the Protoplanetary disc article indicates that its the other way around.

I think this article is wrong; the other is correct.

  • No, a planetesimal is too lightweight for its shape to be controlled by gravity, part of the definition of dwarf planet.
  • Yes, protoplanets either ended their life as building block of larger planets or survived as large asteroid or Kuiper-belt object.
