Proposed merge with Brugherio's plague crosses[edit]

Most of Brugherio's plague crosses is of purely local interest – and sourced entirely to local guidebooks; but there's as yet no mention here of plague crosses in Italy, so perhaps some of it could usefully be incorporated? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:48, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure its necessary to have an article about plague crosses in Italy before this article can be written. A merge with plague crosses would create a very odd article. I have already added a picture and a couple of sentences about the notable monuments in Italy would be of interest in Plague crosses (because they are not just of local interest?). Discussion of the plague might help in this article - as this would widen the scope of the article) (this would have attracted international attention.) That plague was so notable that they have (these) monuments to it (:-) ). Victuallers (talk) 11:40, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I started this article some years ago, and at the time had no info to hand on such crosses in Italy. Of course, now that info is available, it could be summarised here - better to do that, and link to the separate article on the Brugherio crosses, rather than attempting to merge the Brugherio article into this one. Are there similar crosses in other parts of Italy? Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:04, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work, Ghmyrtle! I think they are all over the place – see Commons and Marian and Holy Trinity columns; in Italy they seem, from a quick look, to be mainly in the north, including of course Milan. Yes, Victuallers, plague is surely notable; that doesn't make three crosses in Brugherio notable. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:30, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Closing the merge (as there doesn't seem to be a consensus, and stale for two years), but edited the page to including a summary of Brugherio's plague crosses, with better linking to Marian and Holy Trinity columns, to which Plague column currently redirects.
