spelling of name?[edit]

For some reason Kenneth Quinn (3 times at least in Horace The Odes) insists on calling him Prahates (sic). Something to look into? Vince Calegon (talk) 16:37, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cite errors[edit]

There are quite a few cites with "journal" parameter missing in {{cite journal}} (Category:CS1 errors: missing periodical). Also, "Bringmann 2007" does not have a corresponding entry in the bibliography (Category:Harv and Sfn multiple-target errors). Renata (talk) 04:20, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Renata: Dangit, what do I have to add to my common.js to see these missing journal parameters? --HistoryofIran (talk) 11:26, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have .citation-comment {display: inline !important;} in my common.css. Help:CS1_errors#Controlling_error_message_display has different codes. Renata (talk) 23:25, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thanks! --HistoryofIran (talk) 01:10, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get to this shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:28, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sturmvogel 66:, when do you reckon that the review will be done? --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:24, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • No DABs
  • Images appropriately licensed
  • Can we get a map of the relevant era?
Unfortunately there isn't any. --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:13, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not actually Phraate's reign, but File:Roman East 50-en.svg at least shows where all of the relevant countries are.
  • maternal descent being greater than that of his own explain this better
As in why that the was case? Unfortunately the source doesn't go into detail regarding that. --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:29, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Explain why the status of their mothers mattered and why one was higher status than the other.
Unfortunately atm I can't find any source which explains why. I would assume it's the classical case of descent mattering amongst royal families. --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:55, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • which aroused the Armenians upset or displeased, etc.
Ah yes, not sure why I used that term. Fixed. --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:28, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Which volume of the Encyclopaedia Iranica? And what does et al. mean here? Missing publisher and access date
    • Don't forget this!
Removed vol, as it's not listed. No idea what et al. is, removed it. Imo access date is not necessary, I'm not even sure when I added the source. What do you mean by publisher? That's Iranica. --HistoryofIran (talk) 14:39, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See [1] for the proper way to cite entries from it
Fixed. --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:55, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What's a title case x)? --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:27, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See Title case--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 13:38, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but I still don't get it, is this about the sources section? --HistoryofIran (talk) 17:40, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is the only place where article and book titles are listed, no?--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 18:32, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, but I've gotta admit I still dont know what you mean. Could I get an example? HistoryofIran (talk)

Compare the capitalization of these two titles from your bibliography:

  • "Dynastic Connections in the Arsacid Empire and the Origins of the House of Sāsān"
  • "Parthia and Rome: eastern perspectives"
  • You want all of the capitalization to match the first example, that's what's meant by title case--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 18:57, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:55, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's not. What's wrong with the titles of Kennedy, Curtis 2007, Curtis 2012, Roller, Schippmann?--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:08, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dangit, reading is hard. I've fixed them, anything else? --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:19, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Sturmvogel 66: --HistoryofIran (talk) 20:43, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, isn't it! Especially for these sorts of nitpicky details. But just hope you don't ever get required to use APA or MLA formats for academic papers! You'll have whole classes devoted to the minutiae of those styles, including the hot-button question as to the placement of the colon!--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:08, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well I dunno what that even means, so I hope so lol. --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:12, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
