The Internet "Meme"

I've put a request to WP:BLPN to have editors there a look at the propriety of including Fabian's recent One Piece internet meme thing, and if it should be included how much the article should cover it. Meh. First, it strikes me as WP:RECENTISM – 20 years from now, is anyone going to remember this? Is this going to be a notable part of Fabian's career, something that people remember him for? I doubt it. Second, FishandChipper's addition was way too long, trying to explain all the details. If this should be included at all, it should get one sentence – let the associated sourcing explain the details. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 13:38, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

People don't generally remember entertiners for how many children they had or what their names were, yet we mention those all the time, I don't think thats a good reason to exclude it. Strongly disagree – if this is to be included, it does not merit a full paragraph. This is basically going to end up being a "flash in the pan". And this is a totally different from "how many children" a subject has – that is considered "basic bio info" like a DOB or where someone was born. (But, notice, we don't generally include the names of said children, partly for the reasons you are getting at – how many children someone has is "basic bio info", but details beyond that is not.) --IJBall (contribs • talk) 14:03, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

I think the fact that it recieved media attention and is somewhat notable to Fabian specifically makes it somewhat notable. It could also be spun-off into the various other actors who have done their own renditions of the meme (Peter Diseth, Luis Moncada etc). I think your being quite liberal in your use of the term paragraph but never the less there are entire articles dedicated to memes no one has probably thought about since their inception. I don't think 3 lines here are that harmful. FishandChipper 🐟🍟 14:03, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

We absolutely do not need to explain the details here, like you are trying to do (that is the WP:UNDUE part, as it's not even about Fabian directly) – let the sources handle that if readers want the full story. I think the Cameo account is at least deserving of a mention, and if anything due to the bizarre nature of the meme it requires the extra explination line. And again it must be stated that this is simply 3 lines of text. Its not like it goes indepth into the meme itself a-la knowyourmeme. FishandChipper 🐟🍟 14:07, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

I think that could work, although the way its currently phrased makes it sound like he opened the account in order to do the meme when it should be more like:

"In mid 2022 Fabian opened a Cameo account. After a request from a fan, Fabian was asked to say a number of Better Call Saul injokes and internet memes, one of which was, "The One Piece, The One Piece is real!", which itself became a viral internet video meme, intercut with characters from One Piece and Kanye West's Dark Fantasy .[sourcing here]"
