More Italian MEPs?

According to the European Parliament website, the two Italian MEPs elected on the Partito Socialista - Nuovo PSI ticket now caucus with the PES/PSE. --Free Socialist 00:08, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Languages in infobox

Wouldn't it be more logical if either only English or all official languages of the EU were included in the infobox (but then with a hide option)? Spanish hasn't got that much more native speakers within the EU than Polish for instance.--Roofbird (talk) 12:59, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Name change?

According to the EU Parliament election page the PES are to change name before 2009 but there is no source on this, and I can't find one either. Anyone heard of something like that? See European_Parliament_election,_2009#Other_issues --Jonte-- (talk) 15:26, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

I have heard of this outside wikipedia, although I can't recall the exact sources. This is only rumoured so far. Supposedly any renaming will be to accommodate heterogeneous parties such as Italy's new Democratic Party and shift the PES into being a more general centre-left grouping rather than an explicitly social-democratic one.--Free Socialist 20:08, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

What is it going to change its name to? – Kaihsu (talk) 22:58, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Still no idea what the new name will be. – Kaihsu (talk) 18:24, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

The rumour was that the parliamentary group (not the PES party) would have a name change to accommodate the Italian Democratic Party in some way. That issue is still up in the air; I suspect we won't know either way for several months. --Autospark (talk) 21:34, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

It's S&D, short for "Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats". There is even a wikipedia article for it. I propose deletion of the article, or a merger.--217.157.160.83 (talk) 02:21, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

New article for the European parliament group

I propose a separate article for the parliamentary group, in line with the wikipedia articles for all other parliamentary groups. --Autospark (talk) 03:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Done. And long overdue. Regards, Anameofmyveryown (talk) 23:59, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

POV Issues and Substantive Information on Policy Positions

I was trying to find some information on the policies and platform of the PES and there was practically nothing on the page dealing with policy that seemed to be of any informative use. The "policy" and "platform" content that was present was presented improperly or was without any substantive value. I would very much like to know about what the platform and policies of the PES are, and it would be good if I could find that information in this article. --Nogburt (talk) 10:40, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

European Council and Council of Ministers

Needs to be updated, since Zapatero isn't Prime Mnister of Spain any longer. 93.222.197.16 (talk) 03:52, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Map

The map is a bit of old now. I Denmark they have a social democratic government now, Slovenia have a right-wing government and so do Portugal and Spain. /SkytteholmarN — Preceding unsigned comment added by SkytteholmarN (talkcontribs) 17:16, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Italian PD isn't member of PSE

I've deleted Italian PD as member of the PSE. Actually it isn't. On the other hand, it is member of the S&D Alliance. Palimmo (talk) 08:36, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

True, PD shouldn't have been on the list. However, oddly DS is still (unexplainably) listed on the PES website, and that of Socialist International, so it returns to the list.--Autospark (talk) 12:26, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

number of members of member parties

Should we perhaps add a column to the "members" table giving the member number of the national parties? That would be ca. 484k SPD (DE), 200k PS (FR), 195k Labour (UK), 460k PSOE (ES), 243 SPÖ (AU), 54k PvdA (NL), 73k PS (PT), ... --93.215.183.89 (talk) 01:47, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Member parties

"With 32 members it is the only political party to have a member from every EU state, although not all of them have elected MEPs" Why does no one ever remember little Latvia? :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.32.3.77 (talk) 16:14, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
