Regarding Current Version[edit]

Hi ! Ekdalian , In this current version of the article the sources which are used to mentions them as a sub caste of Kanyakubja Brahmins are not valid because :

1. First source used in this is not reliable because the current source is a reprint of Raj Era sources you can check from here : People of India

2. Second sources used is not reliable according to this , because the book is using the same Raj Era and AnSI as their reference.

3. And the 3rd and 4th sources does not mention anything about Paliwals when you search in both the 3rd & 4th in google books.

Now you can check the below sources :

This article by Times of India in which Paliwal Sabha clearly mentions that they were Gaurs Brahmins not Kanyakubjas.
Also another book by the R.K Dave clearly mentions this that Paliwals include themselves in Gaurs , see the source
Similarly , same thing mentioned by archaeologist Rima Hooja in her book A history of Rajasthan see the source

Current sources using this book : Kanyakubja Vanshavali as the base which was also used by britishers but its unreliable according to Wikipedia rules as these kind of vanshawlis were written for the praise of their own community. Now in this vanshwali , Bhumihars are also mentioned as Brahmins but they are not Brahmins see this comment of Sitush in this summary. This vanshavli also mentions Sarupareen as there subcaste but in the counter of this book , Saryupareens printed their own vanshawli declaring themselves different community than Kanyakubjas Saryupain Vanshavali in this book they discard the claim of being a subcaste of Kanyakubja. Hey @Ekdalian I want you to look at the sources in this consensus by @Manoj Singh Gaur

His source [source1] Nowhere mentions Gaur Brahmins but Ad-Gaurs which is different, Same with his another [source2] which doesn't mentions Gaur Brahmins.

Secondly None of my source takes reference from any Vanshaavali as pointed out by @Manoj Singh Gaur. You can check it by yourself. He is trying to fool the editors by merging two different castes Gaur brahmin and Ad-Gaurs as one.

Coming towards my sources [First], It nowhere cites any British Raj sources or any other Vanshavali. Also as Per WP:RAJ Jogendra Nath Bhattacharya can't be said as unreliable as he isn't British civil servant. Adding to your point , check below what is written in the article by TOI :

According to Akhil Bhartiya Paliwal Samaj secretary Rishidutt Paliwal, earlier Paliwal Brahmins were known as ‘Gaur’ Brahmins, but later while residing in Pali, they became Paliwal Brahmins.
