Base2 vs base10

It is not clear if this article is in base2 (e.g., GiB) or base10 (e.g., GB).

Based on current naming, it would appear to be base10. But digging a bit more into the details, I think it is actually base2.

I think most of the quantities are actually rates. While it might be convenient to express something in GiB/s for some applications, I think this would be too informal. Rates are always in SI. So if you see any rates with what turns out to be a binary prefix, I suggest you change it. If you see any quantity (rather than a rate) with a binary prefix, use your judgement.Digital Brains (talk) 11:55, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

I don't see it though. I just scanned through the entire page, and I don't see any numbers that correspond to a binary prefix being used. The only thing I noticed is that where in the tables we always round to whole megabytes (per second), the running text sometimes rounds to GB/s, resulting in a rate of 3.938 MB/s also being referred to as 4 GB/s and once as 3.9 GB/s. This is fine, we don't want to say 3938461538.461539 B/s everywhere, do we ;-). (In before pedants: The clock rate isn't that stable to be able to give that many significant figures anyway) Digital Brains (talk) 12:25, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Please add new topics at the bottom. All prefixes on WP are standard, decimal SI, M=10^6, G=10^9, ... unless they are marked as binary – see WP:COMPUNITS. --Zac67 (talk) 19:30, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Versions sections are really bad

Other WP articles link to specific PCI-E revisions, e.g. 5.0 and it looks quite horrible and incomplete. Instead of giving a quick overview (how fast it is, how it differs to previous versions, any caveats) and history (or vice versa) you only see incoherent historical events which give you a zero understanding of this or that revision.
