PCI-E slot variety

Crcook84 (talk) 07:10, 12 April 2017 (UTC): I had purchased a SATA card recently. I thought it was PCIE x1. The pinout was a little wider than that. I looked up PCIE x4 and that was too wide. After looking on the manufacturer website for the card, apparently, it is a x2 PCIE card. Just thought I'd put that out there that there was/is an in-between format.

×2 is an officially allowed (electrical) link width but mechanically, there's nothing between ×1 and ×4. Are you sure, the mechanical length is ×2? What's the make of the card? --Zac67 (talk) 16:57, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
Crcook84 (talk) 18:43, 12 April 2017 (UTC): Here's the card: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EA0WMOS/ I got a x1 extender to go with it. But, the card didn't fit the extender. I compared my card with a comparison picture: http://blog.duropc.com/2013/the-difference-between-pcie-x1-x4-x8-x16-and-x32 The pinout is wider than a x1 but not as wide as a x4. If you go to the website of the card manufacturer (http://www.vantecusa.com/en/product/pro_list/33), you will notice that they do offer PCIE cards built with a "PCI Express x2 interface".
OK – interestingly, the datasheet doesn't say much but the manual clearly states "PCI Express x2 interface, and compatible with PCI Express x4, x8 and x16 slots", so it's a "×4 (×2)" card. --Zac67 (talk) 11:15, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Of course x2 cards exist. Here's another: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AZ9T41M/ What do you mean by "x4 (x2)"? I've yet to see a x32 card or slot though. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 22:21, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

PEG disappointment

Not a single mention of PEG - neither in the article, nor in discussion. I came to find out what this "PEG" is all about and it seems WP doesn't care to explain. I'm shocked. LinguistManiac (talk) 10:58, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

Then use Google to find that PEG means PCI Express Graphics (a discrete graphics card in a PCIe slot) and add it yourself, with cited references, of course. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 22:21, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Form factor physical dimensions

Hi,

There seem to be many varieties of form factor, for some reason the article does not cover these. There seems to be a number of confusing terms used Half Height, Full Height, Low Profile etc These references are closest I can find to some sort of explanation

[1] [2]

Maybe a section "standard dimensions" under form factor would be warranted ?

Lane mash-up

Defined by its number of lanes, the PCI Express electrical interface is also used in a variety of other standards, most notably the laptop expansion card interface ExpressCard and computer storage interfaces SATA Express and M.2.
