Mikey joseph fortune is a well-known player and up and coming star in the oylegate gaa club. Oylegate gaa was founded in 1892 by Declan fortune. Darragh farrel is the most succesful player from oylegate winning 3 allstars in his senior hurling career. The best match oylegate have ever played was against ballyhogue where they won 7-27 to 0-1 with 7 goals and 20 points from ballyhogues tiarnan walsh. Tiarnan was kicked of the ballyhogue team after this disgraceful performance with so many owngoals and ownpoints. Oylegate are a senior hurling club and a junior A football club
