Comment[edit]

I plan on expanding on why the surgical technique of ovarian drilling is used in the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome and its subsequent effects on fertility. Specifically, I would like to discuss its use as an alternative to gonadotropin therapy and its comparative effectiveness. The article lacks an explanation of how the procedure affects the hormonal restoration mechanisms for ovulation. The procedure section of the article could be expanded to include details on the types of procedural techniques. These are the sources I would like to use:

Kbrodowski1, This looks like a good start. The information you provide is very interesting and presented well with the appropriate encyclopedic tone. The information you have complements the information in the existing article well. I think you could add in a summary of the other theories of how this procedure aids in ovulation, even if they seem implausible. Inclusion of these theories would just serve to give alternative ideas to the reader so they can determine which is more plausible. Also, if it interests you and if you can find good reliable sources, it might be interesting to discuss how/why ovarian drilling was first discovered or used in the treatment of PCOS. It also might be interesting to discuss how the process has evolved. APuma1 (talk) 18:26, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Kbrodowski1, The edits you have so far and the information you have added are extremely relevant and necessary for the improvement of the article. However, I do believe the lead could still use some work as the sentence on lower rates of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and possibly other pieces of the lead require proper citations. In terms of what you have gathered so far, it is important to begin dividing the article into specific sections and sub-sections so that it is easier for readers to follow. Another suggestion, to possibly improve the article would be to expand upon PCOS and its history if it plays a significant role in ovarian drilling and including information on any risks that may be associated with the procedure. Kbrodowski1, The edits you've made are really great improvements to this article. I think the citations you have added really enhance the article and the subsections that have been created are excellent divisions. I think some information is still required in some of the divisions, for instance, in the procedures section it could be helpful to have a little more detail on what the procedures are. Overall I think this article has been improved very well! MollyOshinski (talk) 16:12 , 26 March 2017 (UTC)
