O'Neil/O'Niel[edit]

There seems to be some confusion as to the correct spelling of this name; it would be good if we could get some official confirmation, ideally a cap of the end credits or something. I may be wrong, but I was sure Sean Connery's name tag in the film stated 'O'Neil'. Common sense, if nothing would else, would suggest that this was the correct spelling, but as the name is consistently spelt 'O'Niel' in every sequence featuring a computer read-out (including scenes where the character himself is apparently typing his own name), I can see how the confusion has arose. Connery's costume has a name tag that switches between "O'Niel" and "O'Neil" repeatedly. I'm pretty sure it's always spelled "O'Niel" on the computer screens he accesses several times. The credits say "O'Niel". For what it's worth, the opening crawl also has problems (principal/principle, marshal/marshall, dependents/dependants). The opening crawl was actually spelled correctly in the script, which can be found at http://www.mypdfscripts.com/screenplays/outland. Looks like the guy doing the titles got it wrong, or more likely, decided he knew better. And Connery's character's name is spelled 'O'Niel' (William Thomas O'Niel, in full). Also, this article claims that the movie's working title was 'Io', however the movie was originally going to be set on Ganymede, not Io. 86.20.245.111 (talk) 00:21, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cinematography[edit]

"Director Hyams hired cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt solely to have someone to blame in case Hyams' work as the de facto DP went south, due to Introvision being a complicated and uncertain special effects system. Goldblatt kept his anger over Hyams' duplicity quiet because he needed as much experience in general (and on Introvision specifically) for his just-started work; he has had a highly successful career in film since then, and has publicly said he will not talk about this film or Hyams at any point." - this is an extraordinary, unreferenced, and probably unreferenceable allegation. Recent edits[edit]

Please justify why the plot needs to be bloated, and why you keep telling people who have seen the film that they haven't? Even if people hadn't seen it, sending them a youtube link to the trailer - which by definition doesn't include all plot details - is no real help.
