Merge suggestion[edit]

I can't see there ever being enough suitable content for each boarding house to deserve its own article. Suggest the contents of the article Bramston be cleaned up and merged with this one. Likewise for the previous content of New House. - Gimboid13 14:38, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The whole Bramston article needs erasing! It's complete rubbish! 'Best boarding house in the Country, 99% of pupils going to Oxbridge' !!!!!! This is complete fantasy. In fact, i'm going to edit this rubbish right now! - toph3r [oundle resident and former pupil]

Price fixing cartel[edit]

The public school price fixing cartel reference appears to be a relevant (and sourced) fact about the school. I see no reason to delete it other than to avoid embarassment to the school. Does anyone have a good reason why it should not be restored? - Gimboid13 23:18, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Given the apparent lack of disagreement I've restored the reference. - Gimboid13 08:08, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edits by 86.130.236.224[edit]

These appeared to me to add new information and, in some ways, improve the article, so I thought about reinstating them, but then discovered that the same IP had vandalised User:Gimboid13, see 86.130.236.224 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log). Shame, but perhaps it was not the same editor. Any comments? Viewfinder 01:32, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not all the edits to the article by this user have been entirely useful. See for instance [1] and [2]. I thought the table structure for the houses was a neat way of displaying the information and might also help to discourage the vandalism the article seems to attract so I'd like to see it retained. I noticed the article kept coming up in RC patrol and have been keeping an eye on it for a while. - Gimboid13 02:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Analysis of the article history and [3] suggests the childish "IT extraordinaire" edit that appears in your first example is, infact, your second example, which was added by a different IP. Infact, this edit was not reverted by Dakpowers, who, presumably accidentally, reverted to the wrong version and, unfortunately, reinstated it. Agreed that the tables are neat and discourage vandalism but they also prevent useful addition. Given the recent vandalism, it's probably best that the tables stay for now, but I don't think pupils should be discouraged from attempting to make constructive edits. I reverted these because:

  • I cannot see why the fact that he has been elecyed 6th XV coach gives a teacher suuficient notabilty
  • The reference was incorrectly added, and I cannot see how the youtube link is relevant to Oundle School.

House names[edit]

This may be too detailed a matter for Wikipedia, but can someone tell me how I can find out where the houses got their names? Names like 'Laxton' and 'School' are obvious, but where did 'Sidney', 'Grafton' and 'Crosby' come from, for example? Thegn 06:03, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crosby House derives its name from the Grocer and diplomat Sir John Crosby, and was first occupied by boarders in 1907. Look on the oudnle school website. Hungrylikea wolf (talk) 20:10, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Small Edit[edit]

I have removed the following unsourced statement:

"Oundle School students are notorious for snobbery and rude behaviour. Generally disliked by the entire Oundle Population."

Nice work, ta. Feel free to remove this sort of thing wherever and whenever you come across it. Viewfinder 22:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox[edit]

I have just updated the info box to use the suggested template. Tiddly Tom 12:07, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Number of houses[edit]

The infobox says 14, but the introductory paragraph of the article implies 13. JH (talk page) 21:38, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This has changed - see http://www.oundleschool.org.uk —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.103.52.131 (talk) 21:35, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The logo has not changed. The school website merely uses a monochrome version of it. --129.31.244.9 (talk) 16:05, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
