Comments:

I changed the first sentence/paragraph, splitting it into two separate sentences. For two reasons: first, "in 1570–1573" had to be changed to "between 1570–1573", and this sort of conflicted with the use of between only two words after. Second, the sentence was rather long anyways.
"main event → preeminent episode" — I felt this would sound more scholarly, although it really means the same thing.
"Two months later, at the Battle of Lepanto, the united Christian fleet destroyed the Ottoman fleet, but was unable to take advantage of this victory." → Were they unable to, or did they fail to? The former means it was not within their means, while the latter suggests that they simply did not take advantage of the situation (but they had the means to).
I did some reconstruction here and there. Feel free to change anything you believe is undue.
This is a good article, but before taking it to an A-class review I suggest contacting someone for a brief copyedit.

Thanks for the review, and the copyedits. On the third point, the answer is probably unable. Winter precluded any immediate follow-up operations (galley fleets were notoriously prone to founder in bad weather), and the Ottomans quickly recovered. The subsequent inactivity was as much the result of Ottoman strength as political disunion among the League members. Constantine ✍ 19:08, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
