Estate planning on ODSP[edit]

  • Does this section really need to be here when the entry is supposed to be general information per WP:NOTGUIDE and possibly WP:NOV or WP:OR? I am choosing not to remove it at this time as people have been editing it but I am thinking at this point it is not the most important thing to fix the WP:FailN issues. Ideas for Improvement[edit]

I would like to suggest some improvement ideas before officially tagging them with templates or todo lists: Neochu (talk) 06:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Section expansion[edit]

  • It would seem important to expand into further details of the Benefits provided by the program (such as rates, and direct requirements) but only as a brief summary. Right now I am not so sure about adding them with only primary references and risk to WP:OR. This can include notes about the appeals process which adds a significant component to how the program is run. See the ODSP Legal Guide as a secondary resource for what I mean on this.Neochu (talk) 06:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am thinking a section on history of the program and how it came to be, as the program has evolved at least 3 times in the past 20 years into its current state. see here here, past page 32, PDF and hereNeochu (talk) 06:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • For example: The province just completed a full review of the program in 2012 called the Social Assistance Review which has numerous comment pieces and many news reports see Google.Neochu (talk) 06:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • The program is highly controversial and most secondary/tertiary resources are going to have alot bias towards shifting public policy one way or another. Perhaps Wikipedia can add insight to maintain WP:NPOV if a section highlighting the controversy within this subject returns. This can include arguments about rates, cost to the government and other political issues. Again this is probably what would would make WP:N much more significant. I am seeing a past section removed because it could not maintain Wikipedia standards, so it needs to be re-worked—if possibleNeochu (talk) 06:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sources exist/references available[edit]

  • These can be improved upon—slowly—depending on where this article should go. The policy directives list every single possible detail about rates, benefits, and requirements of the program as does the legislation (see the article) but they all come from one single primary source being the Ontario Social Assistance website. We do need other sources that quote these details per WP:PSTS as citing laws directly runs into issues.Neochu (talk) 06:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Secondary/tertiary resources are highly politicized and Ive seen it happen where WP:NOTADVOCATE could come into play given the controversy that surrounds both social assistance programs in Ontario. However I will re-iterate that this makes this program very much WP:N within the scope of WP:Disability if done properly.Neochu (talk) 06:14, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Travel[edit]

Are we supposed to report that we have not travelled outside of Ontario every month or our benefits we be suspended? 104.128.186.252 (talk) 20:37, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
