CITATIONS ADDED APRIL 2013 - PLEASE REMOVE "CRITICISM" AT TOP OF ARTICLE[edit]

Concerning the "Apparent" Lack of Number of Citations[edit]

In Nov 2019, this OTC article was negatively cited as needing more reference sources. I have added the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) as one new very potent confirming source.

I have also added a reference to the many many original source-materials held by the YIVO Institute

The "One Thousand Children" are one of the many too-little-known stories of World War II and the Holocaust. How does one find many many reference-sources for something that is too-little-known?

We have given all the available original reference-sources that exist. That is the best we can do.

@Kacser Thank you for your comment on the new short description I added. I have some suggestions:

1. We should add a short description - the previous short description was not actually in the article, but merely the preview of what is on Wikidata. It will not appear in search results - you can test this by typing "One Thousand Children" in the search bar on the Wikipedia website or mobile app and observing that no grey text appears underneath the title explaining what the article is about. Regardless of which short description we decide on, we ought to add one to the article outright.

2. I added my new short description to come closer to the recommended character limit of 40 characters (see WP:SDFORMAT). In some cases, anything beyond the 40th character will be cut off. The short description you proposed, "child survivors of the Holocaust who fled to America without their parents", would thus appear as "child survivors of the Holocaust who fle", which is not very specific and doesn't help distinguish this article from other topics like Children in the Holocaust, which is a large part of the purpose of short descriptions. My suggestion is still slightly too long, but in 40 characters it would appear as "Unaccompanied children who fled the Holo", which gives a fair good idea of what specifically this article is about - specifically unaccompanied children. If you could find a way to reword it to fit entirely within 40 characters, that would be awesome, but my suggested short description should work pretty well as is.

In summary: I don't mean to inadequately describe the article, but recognizing the character constraints, I think my short description does a better job describing this article concisely. Regardless, we should add/import a short description into this Wikipedia article by adding {{Short description|Description here}} to the top, because there is currently no short description.
