  • First time reviewing such a huge article, so please bare with me, it may take a while.

Pre-review comments[edit]

  • You've got three dablinks and one dead and one suspicious link.
  • Is the "Awards" table in "Critical reception" really necessary? There's only one listed.
  • I know this isn't exactly necessary, but do you think you could expand on the "Remix" section and include information about the various remixes made of the song? Maybe something like S&M (song)#Remixes?
  • This sort of goes with the above. I'm not sure why there is a need to have a "Official remixes" section, when they are all listed just a section below under "Track listing".
    • I believe everything was addressed Status :) Note that as of Sunday night I will no longer be editing for one month, so Novice will take over, unless we finish by then. Thanks again!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 01:52, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • singer-songwriterWP:OVERLINK?
    • I personally don't think so. It's linked in all her other articles. Of its a big deal to you, then I'll un-link it.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 00:11, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • ...written and produced by Carey, Christopher Stewart and Terius Nash... → To avoid confusion: ...written and produced by Carey, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Terius "The-Dream" Nash...
  • The song draws influence from R&B and hip hop music genres, and is built around a thumping bass line, and features a distorted wordless vocal hook as its musical bed. → I don't think it's really needed to include the word genre, maybe something more in the lines of: The song draws musical influences from R&B and hip hop music, and is built around a thumping bass line. And also, there's too many and's. I would remove the second one. Or maybe just take both sentences that begin with and, and make them their own sentences; and expanding upon the musical influences sentence.

  • ...Eminem......American rapper Eminem...
  • ...who had negatively referenced her several times in the song. → What song?
    • Its a typo. its supposed to be "in song" (more than one song, more than once in the media).--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 00:11, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Internationally, the song was not released throughout parts of Europe, as Island Records decided to give priority to the album's second single, Carey's cover of Foreigner's classic "I Want to Know What Love Is". → Shouldn't this go after the peaks for "Obsessed" is finished?
      • I don't think so. Its something important to know before you read up on its charting in Europe.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 00:11, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Throughout the video, Carey plays herself and a male stalker, dressed as both a bellhop and a man wearing a gray hoodie and sweatpants.Throughout the video, Carey plays both herself and the character of the male stalker, respectfully* dressed in a bellhop, as well as a gray hoodie and sweatpants. *Not sure if that's the word I'm looking for, but I hope you get what I mean by it. Tip of my tongue, you know? Not as in the word respect, but as in both referring to the previous statement.

Background[edit]

  • Year in brackets after The Adventures of Mimi Tour, like Angels Advocate Tour (2009–10) in the lead.
  • The Emancipation of Mimi → link
  • Island → Island Records, and link
  • ...cancelled by early December 2008......cancelled in early December 2008...
  • Many claimed to have seen Carey visiting a famed gynecologist's office in Los Angeles. → Many what? What about: Many reports were made claiming that Carey had been visiting a famed gynecologist's office in Los Angeles.
  • On June 9, 2009, she wrote on her official Twitter account... → colon after account
  • —The-Dream → on what? And there isn't any need for the quotation marks when it's in a quote box, that has them automatically.

Artwork[edit]

  • Section looks good, but is there anything else that can be added? Possibly when the cover was released? Or was it just first seen when the song was released?
    • No source found for that. I believe when the song was released.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 15:24, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy[edit]

  • How about adding a nice picture of Eminem somewhere in here?
    • I don't think it's necessary. This is about "Obsessed", which is all speculation. "The Warning" makes direct reference at her, so its different. It would be random and unnecessary.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 15:24, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Background[edit]

  • Unlink rapper (beginning of second paragraph)

  • Maybe something about how Mariah and Nick were dating? It's implied by the song lyrics, but it's not said in the article.
    • Even Eminem never claimed they dated when she was with Nick.... He claimed they were together only for 6 months back in 2001, when she "flipped her top". I don't know what song you've been listening to...--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 15:24, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
      • No, I'm talking about Mariah and Nick dating. It doesn't say that they were in a relationship together, thus why he stood up for her, and with the song lyrics referring to both of them. — Status {talkcontribs  22:30, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
        • (I still don't understand what you're getting at) This article is about "Obsessed", I give all the info about this song, and about its main points. Listing every lyric and idea from Eminem's song is not necessary and extra. I think there is enough info regarding his songs, and any more would be UNDUE.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 02:02, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • ...it's a line I said - it's a song... → em-dash

Aftermath[edit]

Composition[edit]

  • Source for the genres?
  • ...hip-hop... → No need for the hyphen.
  • Colons are needed before the quotes of the lyrics.
  • The caption for the sample is a bit too long. Why not just explain what the sample is of, and a quick explanation of what is used in the sample (music wise)?

Music video[edit]

Background[edit]

  • Throughout the video, Carey plays herself and a male stalker, dressed as both a bellhop and a man wearing a gray hoodie and sweatpants. → How is this background information? That has to do with the synopsis, does it not?
I believe it hints at the scenario what the video contains. Jivesh 1205 (talk / Make sure you give 4 a try!!!) 17:59, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Track listings and formats[edit]

  • Looks fine to me. Although, there should be imitate sources for the track listings, don't you think?
