Taxonomy[edit]

The first part of the text has been taken from a section of the grasshopper page. I added the taxonomy section to explain why I had not given nsenene the scientific name of Ruspolia nitidula. That it could not be that name, is evident from the fact that recent authors do not consider R. nitidula to occur in East Africa. It is myself who identified the species as R. baileyi. As far as I know, there is no literature that can be quoted to that effect. If anyone has a good reason to believe that nsenene is another species, I would love to read their arguments. After having talked to several scientists who are working on nsenene, I have come to the conclusion that nsenene is in fact Ruspolia differens. Dogo (talk) 20:00, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't actually true. I expanded Ruspolia nitidula with sources from 2012, 2016, and 2017. I believe that counts as recent. SL93 (talk) 23:18, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I added references for Ruspolia differens. During the past few years, there have been several scientific articles all identifying R. differens as nsenene. Seems to have been unclear in the past because of several similar species, especially R. nitidula. Tapani.Hopkins (talk) 09:13, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
