Change description to "Ukrainian" painter?[edit]

Good day,

Based on the biography, Kuznetsov was born and lived most of his life in Ukraine. Also, the categories list him as Ukrainian painter. Should we change the article to reflect this?

It was part of the Russian Empire at the time. TylerBurden (talk) 18:41, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not very familiar with Wikipedia policies; maybe there is a policy for this case I'm missing?
Otherwise, the majority of other articles I could find do not seem to follow "being part of an empire" logic. For example, Ramanujan is listed as Indian, even though India was a part of British Empire during all of his life. Or, say, Mickiewicz is specified as Polish, even though Poland was part of Russian empire during all of this lifetime. You can easily find many such examples. @OlexiyO Because of the amount of articles, there will of course be some inconsistencies, but generally at least when it comes to this context from what I have seen they are listed based on the period. There might be something in the WP:MOS on it if you want to have a look. TylerBurden (talk) 18:41, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
