Route details[edit]

I today added the (currently second) paragraph about the challenge of the Appalachians on the Limited's route. I rode the train several times in the early 60s and as more occurs to me I'll add it for your consideration and comment. 164.106.201.50 14:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Survival until 1971??[edit]

I doubt that the train survived until 1971. It still appears in the April 27, 1969, schedule under the name "West Virginian" (still bearing train numbers 31/32) that ran between Cumberland and Parkersburg only. The equipment ran through from/to Washington, but westbound combined with the Capitol Limited (train 5) and eastbound with the Shenandoah (train 8). The name "National Limited" was gone by then already. No traces of the train can be found in the October 26, 1969 schedule. The "West Virginian" was gone by then, too. --Thogo 18:37, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're entirely correct. I've been meaning to add these corrections to the article. Are these schedules online, or in your personal collection? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:44, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, didn't notice there was an answer, sorry. ;) The schedules are printed in Official Guides that are in my personal collection. --Thogo 17:44, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
