Dear Mr. Sourav Bhattacharyya. Please refrain from adding your name to the bottom of the stubbed article even if you are the creator. I have not seen bylines in articles on wikipedia and even if there were bylines, I doubt they would be necessary for an article that is 4 lines long right now and can be expanded by other editors. Vandalism[edit]

Someone edited the demographics section with false informations. It showed that the literacy rate as 98% in Naihati. I have reverted it back to the true value of 74.5% and have also tagged the reference that was already in the article. I have added this article to my watch list. Notable People[edit]

There is a mention of Sukanta Bhattacharyya as a notable person who belonged from Naihati. I do not find similar mention in the wikipedia page of Sukanta Bhattacharyya. In fact the wikipedia article for Sukanta Bhattacharya itself states that he was born in Kalighat, at his maternal grandfather’s house, and there is no mention of him ever being in Naihati. There are multiple independent sites where I find consistency of this fact. For example: Veethi revolvy Dhaka Tribune IMDb.

There are also video presentations which states the same thing. Some of these actually have more information than what is available in the aforementioned websites. youtube link

The only place where I found this claim is in Rishi Bankim Library google site with no citation of its own. Note that there are other articles which clones this information and presents them. They can not be considered independent sources. It seems like this source is not the most reliable source, given no other source corroborates to this. With this in mind I am removing the reference to Sukanta Bhattacharya from the article as that is most likely incorrect.

Boro maa[edit]

Naihati is very famous for the worship of Boro maa, A very large idol of Goddess kali. It is believed that it is one of the most holiest idols in West bengal.

during the immersion of the tall idol, Thousands of People gather to push the idol to the ghat. The Boro maa puja committee is also known for its humanitarian work. They distribute food, fruits, blankets, cloths and other Essential commodities to the poor.

I think a the worship of Boro maa must be included in the Article Rayaanpogo21 (talk) 16:26, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
