New Article[edit]

I began this article last week when I saw that West was promoted to LTG and appointed TSG. I found a decent amount of sources to start the article, but her awards section in particular is troubling to me. The official picture shows her wearing some awards that I don't have sources for, (MSM) and not wearing one that all the sources say she has (DSM). Any help finding those, or any other help on the article, would be appreciated.

Found an updated bio photo and awards source, and added those in. I think I'll update her career section later with more detail on previous assignments and experience.

Awards and Decorations[edit]

Starting this section to avoid an edit war, and to discuss the awards and decorations section. I'd switched up the order a little bit from what 2001:7e8:c2cd:9d01:bdcf:bb1e:7420:f6e8 added; I put ribbons and awards after badges. I thought it looked better, and still do, but looking at other articles on military members that seems to not be the norm. I don't know if there is an encyclopedic policy for that or not. I'll look later when I'm on a laptop.

However, I do support removing the Regimental Distinctive Insignia from the list, as it is neither an award nor a decoration. Any objections, please, let's hash it out.

USAWTFM Stolen Valor Allegations[edit]

This link was added to support a claim of stolen valor, but in the link itself it says, "The Office of the Surgeon General dismissed Adam’s claims in a statement released late Thursday. 'Lt. Gen. Nadja West has served the nation with honor, distinction, and integrity for over 28 years,' said OTSG spokeswoman Maria Tolleson. 'In 1992, she was attached to 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and deployed to a region in Southwest Asia, drew hostile fire pay, and was decorated by 5th SFG(A) for her exemplary service.'" In order to avoid an edit war or keyboard warriors, please discuss here before further changing the article. As of now, the statement of the OTSG is that she earned the patch, so that should stay in the article. Taking it out or adding unsubstantiated claims of stolen valour could be a violation of WP:Libel. WiiWillieWiki 23:17, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@WiiWillieWiki: She doesn't appear to be wearing the SFG tab. I don't see how she could be accused of stolen valor as it's WP that seems to be saying she is authorized to wear it. The only reference to stolen valor was wearing the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the memo says she is authorized to wear the SWASM. Is there a mistake? Post-vietnam, the only way I have heard of earning the SF tab is to complete SF training which she did not do. --DHeyward (talk) 07:30, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Black?[edit]

Stupid question from Germany: why she is black? My skin is, when tanned, darker. And I am surely white. Flk-Brdrf (talk) 11:41, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
