Moves to NI etc[edit]

I've deleted If a patient moves out of the area of England, Wales and the Isle of Man to Northern Ireland or Scotland they will be allocated a number appropriate to one of those systems but if they return they will revert to their original number. It is unreferenced and I am personally a counter example. I moved from England to NI and have a Medical Card with the H&C number starting with 4.--SoulRebel56 (talk) 11:05, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Number ranges[edit]

"Currently issued numbers for England, Wales and the Isle of Man are from 400 000 000 to 499 999 999 and 600 000 000 to 708 800 001."

This was added back in 2014. NHS number are now being issued starting 71X so this needs to be updated. I don't know what it should be updated to, however, and I don't have access to an up-to-date reference. OF the references given, one is currently unavailable and the other dates back to 2013. (unsigned)

No need to keep updating with the top of the number range, so changed to "600 000 000 upwards". Wire723 (talk) 09:38, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Old numbers[edit]

The top of the main section says that the previous system for NHS numbers was founded on wartime identity card numbers eg JRDAN 269.

There's then a separate sentence at the end of the section saying 'Some people may have old NHS numbers following the format XXXX 999.'

I believe both contributors are addressing the same issue, it would be clearer if the two statements could be brought together somehow.

Good point. I removed the 2nd sentence as it is unsourced. Wire723 (talk) 09:32, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
