Question[edit]

I want to know why is considered the Milky's Way twin.

Better Picture[edit]

I found a better pic of NGC 7331 if its possible to imbde it into wikipedia or something. Being that it's a work of NASA, copyright doesn't apply :)

And for "those" who are curious as to WHY NGC-7331 is considered our twin: Heres a pic of the Milky Way here

and

Heres a pic of NGC-7331 from roughly the same angle here

Milky Way's Twin[edit]

The Spitzer Science Center's press release on NGC 7331 stretches the truth a little when it refers to NGC 7331 as the "Milky Way's Twin". This was done simply to sensationalize the image so that the public would take notice. In actuality, NGC 7331 probably is not any more similar to the Milky Way than many other Sb galaxies. Moreover, some characteristics of NGC 7331 (such as the significantly larger central black hole) do not quite match the characteristics of the Milky Way, and some characteristics of the Milky Way (such as the possible presence of a bar) do not match the characteristics of NGC 7331. Please do not put the statement back in the article.

Fleas too detailed.[edit]

I have copied the details about the fleas to the NGC 7331 Group page, where they belong. Any reason to keep the same details in this page (which really isn’t about the fleas)? Jmacwiki (talk) 06:07, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed most details about these galaxies, although the group’s own article is still linked here (of course), and they are discussed there. I have also removed the “dubious” link. Jmacwiki (talk) 05:03, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Starbursting?[edit]

Why does the See Also section contain two links to starburst galaxies (and to no other topics)? Nowhere in the article are starbursts mentioned in connection with 7331 (or in connection with anything else, for that matter). Delete?

FWIW, 7331 looks to be flocculent (a largely visual categorization), so I have inserted in link to that in the See Also section. Jmacwiki (talk) 05:16, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
